That looks like a great idea and the first time I have seen it. Thanks Sheba.
Bit hard to believe the website pics though, troopies never get bogged in sand (mud is a different matter though )Combine that idea with a ground anchor of some sort and it would be great on the beach too.

We can get bogged anywhere :)

Letting the tyres down is the first step to getting unbogged.

Peter

Good pics Peter............shows the moral of the story is:

1. Don't take your vehicle where is pretty obvious it (or any other vehicle) shouldn't go

2. When you've got your foot on the accelerator and youre sinking rather than going forward, get you foot off the pedal straight away or expect to stay bogged until towed out (if youre lucky) or work up a very dirity sweaty body and dig yourself out, hope you have something (or can find some tree branches) to go under the front of the drive wheels.

With all the the vehicles in your pics, you really wonder how stupid the drivers can be to get into where they are!!

Thanks very much for that........ I think........

I was the stupid driver in each and every case in those pics. and I have lots more too.........I guess that makes me even more stupid in some eyes?

We extracted ourselves in all but one of those.

Getting bogged from time to time is a consequence of going to lots of places off the beaten track.  I don't see it as a problem, just another experience.

Cheers,

Peter

Not for me with my disabilities Peter BUT you have experienced more than the average camper by pushing the envelope and accepting that occasionally s**t happens and take it on the chin as a new experience. Well done. nod.gif nod.gif

Re the Bog Aide - you would need to fit one to each rear wheel otherwise the car would slew to one side and throw the belt off the tyre, and I'd guess even with 2 fitted the car may still slew in slippery mud. I'd imagine it would cause some damage to the rear suspension if it got wrapped up there.
Good Luck.

If you only fit one, nothing will happen at all (unless you have a diff lock) because the opposite rear wheel will simply spin.

Cheers,

Peter

In the video I'd presume the Landcruiser has a limited slip diff like most 4WDs which is almost as good as a locked diff so maybe the other wheel would not spin,  but I'd fit the 2 just to be safe. Nice looking sort giving the demo too biggrin

Regards
