Kennedy Range National Park & Campground - 50 kms North of Gascoyne Junction WA

This beautiful area has a number of walk trails and camp hosts at the campground, sign here shows fees etc.

It is 50 kms north of Gascoyne Junction and you need to cross two river crossings to get there, the Gascoyne River and the Lyons River.

Important, you MUST check with the tourist centre or shire office at Gascoyne Junction before you go out there for updated condition of river and road, it is a dirt road to the Ranges and the crossings are subject to flooding.   I took my 2WD out there to the camp, but as there was a thunder storm brewing in the area did not camp there overnight.   Those at the camp were the camp hosts in a fifth wheeler and Iveco and about 3 others with camper trailers and 4WD's.

A few people who left there caravans at the new Gascoyne Junction caravan park and did a day trip out there in a 4WD after me got caught in the thunderstorm and although they river crossing was ok (takes a few hours for the water to reach it) had mud all over their vehicle and underneath from the muddy road they encountered.  I was lucky, I had a dry road and the crossings were only about .2 of metre high at both crossings when I went over.

Medical problems and such certainly cut into the nomad lifestyle.
Unfortunately Vic there is no way around it.

Yes I know Alan, Murchison Settlement, Gascoyne Junction and Kennedy Ranges were three things on my bucket list, can tick them off now but will certainly visit again one day and spend more time there then. smile
