Dune fridge freezer iceing up

Hello, has any body purchased a dune frontier 20lt fridge freezer purely to run as a freezer? I bought one and the seal freezes up after it has been opened. The next time I try to open it I have to force it open. It is used to store frozen food as a backup to my fride with a shoebox sized freezer so I only open it up occasionally to restock the shoebox.

If anyone has experienced this problem or can recomend a small fridge freezer that they used with no problems That would be great.

Cheers Ryn

Have you damaged the seal perhaps?

I have same unit, never seen this. Mine is set at -10 deg C always. Maybe moisture on seal or lid freezing the two together?

regards

If the seal was damaged it happened the first time I tryed to open it. Or maybe it was damaged when I purchased it.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks I will try it at minus 10, but it is not the safest temp for frozen meat.

With some space in the top, put a bright light inside and close the lid at night and see if any light gets out to check the seal.
Cheers,

Meat is perfectly safe at -10C for about three months - probably a lot longer.

When freezing, providing the temperature is below about -5C, food will keep well but for a shorter time than the standard domestic setting of -18C. I have always run my bush freezers at -12C in order to conserve energy.

There is confirming research on this if you doubt me - Google may find it.
