The Boulevard, East Ivanhoe, Victoria. This road is the worst road in the country. You couldn't count the number of potholes on this road. There is more potholes than there is bitumen on this road.could say the bitumen is the safety hazard.

Nah. They fixed all our potholes locally a few days ago.

I am in NSW, not Victoria.
The news indicates Victoria is the gold standard for potholes

Our new Premier has stated he will fix the roads. This is the same bloke who was transport minister from 2020 to 2022 and did nothing. Go figure!!!

Who, how and what they use on roads and road repairs is not like it was 20 years ago. Why is it that major heavy traffic roads get laid and last far, far longer than some suburban roads. Is it/has it become that the roads are not using and being built with materials for long lasting standards. A guy down the road from me who used to work on roads and repairs has said to me that standards have gone out the door. He recently spoke to a road worker and was told that road are now designed to crumble when a fault occurs. This is so it becomes noticeable and tell you it needs replacing. This seams highly likely as why would these companies want to make roads and repairs to last for decades. Build it good and you do yourself out of work and money. After all what is the warranty period of a bit of bitumen.

Contractors etc repairing roads is like professional gardeners who were well & truely ahead of the game, leave 10% of weeds so you have future work.

Here is a google earth pic of Muldoon Street Taree.

When I first went there years ago, I could not believe the potholes which covered more area than intact bitumen.

You can see that from this pic.

Also used maps six to compare it to the pic from google earth. The maps six is probably one tenth of the google earth image. The road is Cnr Muldoon and Mahogany Taree. Take a look for yourself. Prove me wrong. If Im wrong I apologise in advance otherwise your suggestion reinforces my belief that people with no clue offer outrageous suggestions to others in this forum who may unfortunately take their word for it. There is also a nasty clique of users led by one particular poster. You know who you are.

Your post got the response it deserved. To claim that Ev's are the major cause of damage to roads is absurd. Ever heard of B doubles, Buses, Road trains???

Your post refers to outrageous claims by others, obviously you don't think that applies to your first post.

Reference your last two sentences, who would that "clique" be? Please enlighten us.

I'm not sure many B Doubles, buses and road trains drive up Mahogany Drive Taree.

Potholes are everywhere, it's the way they are repaired (apart from the original design of the substrate) that gets me.

As I said, you know who you are.

On another note, I almost stopped posting here when I explained my challenges with my wife's second cancer diagnosis and one poster showed no concern, sympathy or best wishes for here but was only concerned with the my ability to post pics. Oh the humanity.

I hope that you and he aire never in my position.

Some people just have no idea of anything except what affects them directly. I hope your wife is doing well since that diagnosis. Since my wifes diagnosis I cannot believe the number of other people, just around in my area alone, that I have found to have had or going through treatment for all sorts of cancers. And it doesn't really take that much to just say the words" sorry to hear that" or "i hope she is doing well" or similar. If someone can't come out with that their not worth knowing or even speaking to. Hope you're doing OK as well cause I know how things effect you.

Last century every few months I would go to the Lands Department in Sydney & buy a 20cm square aerial photo. They were well overlapped, so I could choose which particular aerial image was the best for my particular requirement.

My dentist has a huge Lands Department aerial photo on their waiting room wall from that era, which is a nice reminder of the quality of the imaging.

Often with google photos, they are over sharpened & also shadows are too higher contrast to see into them which makes then pretty useless for anything other than a road repair navvy.

Forgot to add, that when I was in at the Lands Department & was requesting a various map on a particular area, apart from the many overlapping aerial views. They also had readily available, which year were you after. Usually about two years between in general updates. For people looking at comparing many levels of history, it was an invaluable depth of knowledge. The people at the Lands Department all had a depth of knowledge that has long gone with the current pothole navvy clique.

In our local street the council about two weeks ago replaced about 20 meters of curb & guttering. In front of our property we still have heritage sandstone guttering. A bit of a pain in the neck at the weeds grow in between each section of sandstone, which I help & pull out every few months.

Be very careful for what you wish for, for road repairs.

In Germany in some of their 16 States, if the council decides to resurface a local street, the owners of properties in that street are charged are substantial additional levy. My relatives had to fork up thousands of euros... closer to the euro10k for the resurfacing of the local street of their very minimal street frontage.

Of further note, the owner has to keep any public footpaths free of ice in winter at their expense. Somewhat like we are required to mow council grass strips, but on a whole different level.

I have been in Germany over winter many times... simply mowing the council strip, I am grateful of, for the very minimal expense in Australia.

The state of the roads in our area is not good. Why I have all terrain tyres & run them at roughly 28 to 30 psi. A relative has low profile tyres & has blown numerous tyres & destroyed 2 rims on local streets. Personally, central Australian corrugations are almost a pleasure to drive on factoring in the extensive acoustic insulation we have stuck in the car in every possible location. I have plugged & inflated more tyres in our street than around Australia!
