While there are times that I'm genuinely astounded by what it can do, my general conclusion that AI has about the same IQ as a cheese toastie. 

Unfortunately that means that sometimes I spend as much time double checking and fixing the stuff produced by AI as I would have spend if I'd done the work myself. :(

Like you I use it on a daily basis, and usually more than once. I don't pay for any, so just get the basic level, preferring not sign in if it allows that. I would rate Copilot very poorly, and primarily choose Gemini.

For coding, I have found it surprisingly good at designing a solution from interpreting simple end user specifications to writing the code. I know your opening post was not about computer languages, but there are similarities. I have asked for help developing in Jinja2 (of which I knew nothing) and it mostly gets it right first go. Without AI, I would struggle for hours to get there, while Gemini has the solution in seconds.

Sometimes the solution fails with an error message. Try this. Try that. And when it still fails, it then adds code to debug each step. Finally, doing my own research I can see it is trying to read an invalid data type for that function.

Or, pass it to a different AI and ask why this snippet fails.

Taking the topic back to non technical, the main way I use AI is to find information, but I make sure to ask it to provide links so I can assess the credibility of the response.

It is the first thing that comes up on a search and I have noticed a lot of the stuff is just plain incorrect.
Don't know why we need this rubbish.

Just more cr*p fed into us by out of control tech billionaires.

Plus the huge data centres wrecking our farmland with gas fired power to run the stupid things.
There are issues with the pollution feeding into nearby cattle paddocks in the NSW Southern Highlands.
There are predictions they will need 15% of our electricity grid to operate in a few years time.
Aren't we in enough trouble now with power generation without adding these monstrosities to our landscape.

Between solar panel farms dotting the landscape everywhere now, huge windfarms under construction and now these ridiculous power hungry data centres popping up everywhere, there will be no decent farmland left to grow food?
A truck driving company owning mate dropped by this morning.
He told me a lot of our dairy farmers are now on the brink of collapse.

Among other things he said labor and freight costs are killing them.
So what happens then, we import milk from some stuffed up country, or China?

I would imagine they hate each other as much as I hate A.I. with a passion.

In the coming years I think we are going to be inundated with hordes of scams and useless information to drive all of us crazy.

I am sick of presentations with bad pronunciation, spelling and grammar. It grates every time this occurs.  But, it always reminds me of my Dad, who was very particular and was always pulling us up every time we got it wrong.

Every child and perhaps parents need to go back to school and at least complete 6th grade English.  We could also say this of History, Maths, Home Economics, Science and pretty well every subject there is.  

Seems that the investing public are a little reluctant to invest.  Good.  Maybe they won't be able to build as many and as large as they plan.

One of the biggest issues I have is there is too much room for propaganda.  If enough bots are employed and post the information a person or government enough times, according to AI it will become truth. AI takes a consensus of all the posts etc. on a particular subject and puts forward the one that seems to occur the most wins the truth argument.  That gives a lot of room for manipulation of data for a determined person.

Not unlike a discussion I am booked in to have with a "customer success" person this morning from the company that took over a (company) software program I have used for at least two decades.
In the last three years they have increased our annual fees by 11.5%, 10.7% and 11%.

I have pointed out to them one would be mistaken for thinking it was price gouging or profiteering?

I have this morning looked up their financial results for the last three years and lo and behold, last years PROFIT increase was 10.9% on a turnover over a billion (U.K.).

A coincidence??
Mind you, a company is entitled to set it's own prices and is entitled to a profit and grow wealth.
Be careful though, the law of price and elasticity of demand looms.
Don't drive your customer base away to a competitor.

As I pointed out to them, at the rate they are increasing our annual subscriptions, the fees would double in just over 7 years at a compounding rate.
The recent years fee increases are far higher than what the competent Aussie company were charging previously.

What really bugs me about them is they push A.I. relentlessly.
Even to the point that they invoice you for A.I. applications I would want about as much as a brown snake in my bed.

They invoice on an "Opt Out" basis, not an "Opt In" basis.
If you don't tick the box says "I don't want this rubbish".
They send you an invoice for an application one does not want, or want to use.

Methinks there are a lot of sharks operating in the A.I. world.
