Carefree rollout awning top coach bolts Two at the top at either side Are they supposed to be tight ? As they dont appear to screw into anything substantial

Are you able to post a photo of them?

This may be a different awning to yours but the installation principle may be the same but in this case they use bolts right through the side wall.

Good luck

Ive never seen an awning that didnt have bolts going through the wall held there by large washers or plate bolted on.

The nuts and washers may be covered by a rectangular plastic cover.

Given that the coach bolts havent worked, Id go all in with bolts.

Take one of the bolts(screws?) out, will tell you all you need to know I would think, if a coach screw maybe a fix is to smother them in a good wood glue and reinsert, or put one of them plastic screw inserts in,.

The original bonding method failed. Dont repeat the same mistake. If you dont bolt it all the way through and spread the area with large washers or a plate, do this. The best glue for metal to wood is a high-strength two-part epoxy (like J-B Weld Original Epoxy) or a polyurethane adhesive (like Original Gorilla Glue). These adhesives bridge the density gap between the two materials, remain flexible during temperature changes, and provide superior holding power.
