Looking to replace rooftop aircon. What would be the best sealant to use on roof ?  Thanks

What ever sealant you use, surface preparation is probably the most important step. Sika has a large range of sealants for various applications.

The sealant that was used under my Dometic aircon was very fluid. It actually ran onto the floor when I removed the inside sections. There must be a reason for this. Talk to an aircon supplier.

I actually called the local caravan repair/installer and he says he does at least one and day and uses roof and gutter silicone. Im sure he knows what hes doing, but it didnt seem right to me, which is why I asked. Cheers

Silicone is banned from my vehicle.
Once it is on a surface, it is extremely difficult to remove and nothing else will stick there.
It will collect dirt, but is not paintable.
Caravan repairers like it because it is cheap and it works.
Cheers,
Peter

Here's a pic of the internals removed from the old aircon. You can see the sealant in places.

I asked the dealer what they use and he sent me this pic.

Stick with Sika. Do it once, do it right. Manufactures and repairers work to cost. Thats all.
