Have a friend with an Dometic 3500 Air Conditi0oner on his 19ft Tandem Caravan roof. The van has been fully insured from new.
The top cover of the air conditioner was hit by a tree branch, parts/cover are no longer available for this 16 year old van's a/c, he is just going to pay for a new air conditioner and installation.
In my opinion his insurance company should be contributing for an estimated cost of the cover and installation.
Appreciate your comments that I will pass onto him.
Thanks
Peter.

totally depends on the insurance company it could be more touble than it is worth you only find out when you make a claim and find out if you paid for the right insurance
It is most definitely an insurance claim as the AC is part of the van and if it is unable to be repaired then it will be a replacement unit (subject to the PDS). He will have to take into account the excess and what effect any claim has on his no-claim bonus if any. Insurance companies are notorious for jacking the cost up after a claim.
Thanks for your answers, I will pass onto my friend, and urge him to check his PDS ( I may have to help) and suggest he put in for a replacement and see how that goes.
