Water pressure problem

Hi. The water pressure in my Shower Head is strong but the pressure in the sink is very weak. Its a Motorhome. What is the problem I need to address please. Can I self inspect and fix. Any hints greatly appreciated.

We had water pressure problems in our van which slowly got worse over time I ended up replacing the pressure regulator valve just after the water inlet connection. Since then we have used an inlet filter on the water hose to stop the valve from gunking up especially when travelling in areas where the water contains a lot of minerals etc. It was only a 5 minute job to change it on the caravan and I assume with a motorhome it would be similar as long as you have access to it. As soon as I replaced the valve the pressure was back to normal.. Maybe you can clean the old one but I bought a new one from a caravan spares place when we went through Canarvon the guy there said that he normally sells a couple a month to people travelling through the area and advised us to fit a pre filter to the water hose..

If the shower pressure is good then I would be looking at the sink tap screen aerator on the spout to see if it is blocked . This section should screw off so you can clean it of blockage.

Are they coming from the same tank or different tanks? In my van, the kitchen cold tap comes from a different tank and pump to the shower.

This is almost certainly a flow problem, not a pressure problem.
Cheers,

Thank you. That sounds like it is similar to my problem. I will definitely try this. Thanks again.

If you have pressure to the shower any issue will be after the tee off past the pump.  You didn't say whether it was the hot water or the cold water or both.  Try the aerator by taking it off and doing a flow test comparison between sink tap and wash basin. You can soak the aerator in citric acid or vinegar to clean off the deposits and brush with an old toothbrush.  If it is the cold water check to see if there is there a water filter installed on the cold water line as it will probably need changing.

Other than the other above the issue could be in the tap itself with deterioration of the seals causing a blockage.  In that case disconnecting the lines where you can between the tap and the filter and blowing compressed air up the spout with the aerator off may release any blockage.

Good luck.
