Does anyone have any experience or opinion as to which stabiliser is best, electric or hydraulic for a motorhome?
I purchased my Redfoot back in 2015 from the previous owner when the business name was Levelling Jacks..
I'm not sure if I understand your question, as both system use electricity to operate.. Mine are the Hydraulic and in 10 years of daily use, the only problem I had was one of the o-ring failing in one of the cylinder. It took half an hour and $17 to replace it. Mind you, the Hydraulic cylinder are from Australia, while the electrical parts and pump are from the US Equalizer System company..
Now if you are asking which one would be easier to install, and therefore cheaper, it would have to be the electric worm screw system. The Hydraulic required lots of space and if you are going to pay someone for the installation there will be a big difference in price.. Hydraulic are obviously stronger and longer lasting that the electrical one as the only moving part is oil and a rotary pump. The Hydraulic also require a lot of Amps when operating, then again it is only one motor, where in the electric, while a lot smaller, you still have one motor per jack..
For a normal size motorhome, the electric seems to be the easier, cheaper choice. For large and heavy vehicles, Hydraulic is the only solution..
The Redfoot leveling system is a quality product made in the US and I had no problem with the company while they used to be based in Brisbane.. If it is still the same product, and they just relocate, whichever system you buy, you won't be disappointed.. If you ring them, Andrew is the man to talk to...
