Getting to Mt Augustus

Hi all,

We are thinking of heading to Mt Augustus from Perth in July or August. I will be towing a 22' 2700kg gross onroad van with the new v6 Ford Ranger.

Just wondering if any one has done the trip and if they have any tips.

Thanks all.

Cheers

Drummo

Unless there has been a recent rain event, we have found the gravel roads in the area to be consistently excellent.
After one rain event we got pics like these......

If you go to Mt Augustus, you should also go to the Kennedy range, a couple of hundred km to the west.
Lots to explore and if you want a treat there is a track up the western side that goes up to the top and down the other side. Not too difficult, but leave the caravan behind.
We spent a night on top. Great views.

Spotted a pair of Grey Falcons in the Kennedy Range. If you take "Peter's" western track you are in the right area. A first for us.
