I know I'm going to be standing on some corns here but it might only refer to some Qld Toyota drivers. I generally sit on the speed limit when driving with/without a tow unless adverse weather or road conditions cause me to slow down. I have my speedo calibrated correctly - from the GPS red circle & "Bert" who tells me I am over the limit.
However most cars that overtake (& exceed the limit) seem to be Toyotas - cars & 4wds. Do they have a special exemption to be able to drive at higher speeds? Are their cars superior to mine? I had Patrols before buying the Isuzu. I found when we went to the Kimberly region some 5.5 years ago that a Toyota would pass, cut in & then slow down in front of me - so frustrating! A bit like a bloke I used to work with & couldn't stand to have a car in front of his 1300cc motor cycle.
One of my worst experiences was in the wet season earlier this year where I was tailgated for 30kms south of Townsville in very heavy rain & yes I did slow down because of low visibility! I did wonder if this Hilux was low on fuel & needed a tow into town - it was so close.

Do these drivers slow you down? Do they get in your way? Get over it, be courteous and let them pass you. I find it very stressful to drive behind someone else because I need to be always on the lookout for unexpected behaviour and the like, especially when I can't see the road ahead.

Where I am in Victoria, the worst 2 by a long way are Honda drivers & Ford Ranger Drivers. Both are notorious for doing low speeds in right hand lanes, clogging up traffic & slamming brakes on to turn without an indicator.
Other notable mentions are the entitled mob: Mercedes, Audi & BMW drivers who seem to think only their own rules apply on the road.
Only going back on my memory, it was Valliant drivers, Volvo drivers, drivers with bowls hats on their heads, drivers with hats/ pillows/ nodding dogs/ tissue boxes on the parcel shelf, old farts towing caravans. Have I missed any?
And, yes Im groan up.
Definitely anyone wearing a hat or having one on the rear shelf. Bowls or the old straw ones, both lethal.
The other one from memory was the nodding dog whose eyes lit up when the brake lights came on. Don't ever forget the waving hands that one attached to the rear window, absolute killers.

We had a bloke up the street from us who had a big Customline with the baubles around the rear window, a picture of Elvis in the window and Flaming Star written across the bonnet.
When he drove he only steered with one hand and sat almost sideways against the drivers door.
You can be content with the thought they have paid "Toyota Tax".
Maybe that is why they are so entitled.
I suspect big city drivers at play here, well they are getting the blame anyway.
At 100KM on a bush road last week I was overtaken by a small SUV and they must have cut in what felt like 20 feet in front of me.
Makes me wild.
When I overtake I take a long while to get back in so I get a decent distance before I start to move across.
No hurry if you are a safe driver and wait for dual lanes or a decent straight stretch.
I don't mind anything in front on me, it is the tailgaters I hate with a passion.
Particularly on local bush roads where I know there are roo havens.
Last week coming home 40 KM late evening from golf in a danger area I spotted something weird coming at me in the opposite lane. I could see from a distance it wasn't a roo, wallaby, deer or a Yowie.
Slowed down until the poor confused animal neared and trotted in my direction in the lane opposite looking all the while fearful of it's new found world.
Gee that first one Peter was bad, very close. Yes you're on the road more then most, you would definitely see your fair share of idiots, excepting other trucks, I bet you feel a bit safer up there.
A bus driver is dead and several passengers are injured after a bus and a truck collided on the Hume Highway early this morning.
Police said early indications suggested the bus, carrying 43 passengers en route from Melbourne to Sydney, crashed into the rear of a truck while both were travelling north up a steep incline.

Hello everyone,
I trust everyone had a nice Christmas - ours has been marred by a tragic farm accident a week before so in a week's time we will be returning to Toowoomba for the funeral.
When I opened the subject above, I mentioned it would be the equivalent to standing on toes. Yes there may be more Toyotas on the road & as rmoor mentioned the owners pay a Toyota Tax especially with the 4wd sub species of quite high retail prices.
No they don't always slow us down - often on our town roads I couldn't catch them. The clown in the Kimberly was an exception. I was told by a work mate when we shifted to Townsville several decades ago to look out for TLC drivers who wear big hats.
fwdoz, Two years ago I found the problem of slower drivers hogging the various lanes on what I assumed was a highway between the end of the Great Ocean Road & Geelong. It was a twin dual laned road but had none of the usual "Keep left unless overtaking" signs - we struck two cars almost driving side by side at less than the limit. It was quite difficult to be able to get between them to safely overtake. The driver on the right hand lane wasn't in a hurry to catch the Tasmanian ferry as we were.
With our state being well & truly broke they have here in Townsville, cameras on every light controlled intersection quite a few drivers will be paying more than their normal taxes. Not only do we have to look out for stolen cars going through red lights but in our Annandale section of the Bruce Highway there is the added danger from B-doubles ploughing through as if the traffic lights weren't there!
dorian - was that bus driver so fatigued that he didn't notice the steepness of the incline that the truck was going up? We had a nasty one here just south of Townsville a few months ago. The bus driver has been charged - how he survived is a miracle.
Happy New Year to you all.
