While at my eye specialist got talking to a patient also waiting who mentioned that she had a silicon injection into her knee and it was great until her knee completely collapsed and she had to have a knee joint replacement.
..... she had a problem with her knee and they tried a silicone injection. It was good for a while but the knee condition was not solved and continued to decline until it got so bad the proper job needed to be done. Like injections and banding for hemorrhoids .... they may help for a while but the proper job will ultimately be needed.
