Surely they cant make it worse than the last "upgrade". Hopefully they wont introduce it at the height of the travelling season like last time.

It's here
Started the update yesterday on my tablet but my details died in the process. Sent an email and received reply an hour ago. Advised bug fixed and I was good to go.
Update user name passwords preferences and then had a look around.
Tried to log back in few minutes ago. No joy

Leave it others to express their opinion.
I also have it on my phone and not updated. Hope it continues to work.

I have finally found WikiCamps with its new logo on my phone. It does not work as it did previously. I can't get maps in "Satellite View". I can see I will have to spend a lot of time re-learning how to use WikiCamps or find something else.

I have not upgraded yet, but I found this advice on another forum.

"Touch the app settings on the lower RHS& choose between Normal or satellite."

Been randomly pulling up information on my android photo, lots quicker by far.

It would be good to do a field trip, maybe soon.

From my point of view it's a TRAGEDY.

Early days yet, but:

All my "liked" hearts have not come across - literally hundreds of carefully saved designations just gone poof !!1

No comments that I can find.

No place names.

Huge numbers of sites of all types not on map

Satellite view toggle center of three icons on rhs.

A workflow that is convoluted to say the least. !!!!!!!!!!!

Why they wanted to fix what wasn't broke stuffed if I know.

DON'T UPGRADE TILL YOU SEE IT ON SOMEONE ELSE'S MACHINE !!!
Back to the camsites book for me. I have been a diligent promoter of Wiki but for now -

HATE IT !

Fortunately i have the site on another machine that at the moment is not updated due to age of machine.

Morning all,

I just fired up the phone to find the new wikicamps app sitting there smiling at me. I opened it up and had set a new password then agree to conditions etc. I then started to check it out. Took me a minute or two to work it out (I'm old so have an excuse) and found it OK so far. Time will tell I spose. I use Wiki and Google Maps all the time and so far only gone down the wrong road once. What I was aiming for was actually just on the other side of a cane field. Google took me the direct way through the cane field. Wiki gave me the coordinates.

I look forward to working with Wiki still.

Can someone tell me why numerous sites of all descriptions are missing on the new Wiki?

I have two phones, one with the new and one with the old.

Zoomed in identical areas at similar % theres a huge disparity.

Working to get a pic to show.

Also,

Can someone confirm or otherwise that "heart" settings on favorite sites carries over pls.
Has not done so on mine.

Had to delete old wc and download again. Would not accept old pasword so had to reset new one.
Have wc on 3 devices and previously so long as all logged into the same a/c changes on one
device was mirrored on others.

Bloody not now !!!

Wish wiki would do their Beta testing themselves rather than on the users!!

Just a wild guess - but have you checked the filters and settings of the new download?

Agree re beta testing G'Day have been doing that since they bought the app . for goodness sake test your updates before you release it .

How do plan/edit a trip in explore mode? So as to select new destinations along route
In plan mode you only see selected destinations

Business' has been getting users to do Beta testing on real time and on real situations for some time now. Which means in effect they only fix the squeaky wheel and end up with products that are not particularly robust. Saves them money though in most cases even if at times it ends in complete disaster and causes KAOS for their users. Won't change.

Agree re beta testing G'Day have been doing that since they bought the app . for goodness sake test your updates before you release it .

Try adjusting your search preferences settings, filters, for what your looking for.

Yes you have to reset your filters, it's much quicker than the old app and navigating around the site is a bit different but once you get used to it I think it is an improvement

Hi all; The only reason why i downloaded WikiCamps in the first place is for the sattilite finder feature. This worked well. Now WikiCamps have done a upgrade, they have not reinstalled the sattilite feature and is missingb from their new platform. Not happy Jan, is a understatment. I have also emailed them of the short fall and sofar have had no responce as yet.

I do have a nother programe installed in my phone ( sat finder ) and once i have changed it's settings to C1 all good. The problem is the WikiCamps was so much easyer to use.

You know the old saying "you pay peanuts you get monkeys" well in this case you pay peanuts you get an offshore development company (probably India) so the next question is how much information has wikicamps/G'Day parks collected from all its users, and how secure is it? Looking at their track record since they bought Russ out, I would say not very secure.

Plenty of other programs out there so just find another one that suits you better. Then as you said that was the only reason you downloaded Wikicamps free up space and remove it.

well I have spent hours navigating around the most convoluted site ever written.

I have found my favorites.

And here's the crunch - you can see favorites OR a full listing that has favorites included in the whole compendium

WITHOUT DIFFERENTIATION

So it is flip backwards and forwards between filters or no filter to see what there is around other than the favorite
in the area. Makes planning less than a simple experience where the old app showed all and the favorite in the area was
designated with a heart. BRILLIANT.

Now generally the app is upt to **** for many reasons, only two of which I have documented here.

There's a warning about ads coming - lets see where that leads! And how much info is harvested and passed
to third parties.

I have a couple of other devices with the old Wiki on - will use these till forced to ubgrade, then bugger it.

I don't know what all the negativity is about. After the negative comments I thought I would see for myself so it was with some trepidation I did the upgrade a few minutes ago (Android). It's great and a definite improvement.

Some points:
If you had a weak password it probably prompted you to change it. Good. I did not need to.

First thing is to set the filters to display what you want.

Next, click on a site. A popup tells you your Favourites are now called "Liked". Liked is one category in Collections which now include "Visited", "Want to Vist", "Disliked" and "Starred". Good, except as pointed out by Brodie it either shows the collection category only, or there is no highlight in the main view. My guess is they will change this in an update before long. Assuming they do, it will be much better than before.

Photos and reviews are all there, but it looks like if you want offline content you need to download them again. I have not done that yet.

The saved trips are all there, but they still only show selected trip sites, as in the old version. Being able to see the trip along with all sites would be nice.

In my view, a worthwhile update, and it appears to be a better base for further improvements.

Just like the previous version. You must NOT be in Plan mode to add sites. Just the normal map. When you see a site you want to stop at, click Add, and it will be added to the currently selected trip, or you can select a trip to add it to. That is better than the previous version. You can choose whether or not to show the trip on the map.

Now that I have looked more closely, the normal map mode does show the trip and all sites, but it does not highlight those sites already included in the trip. An improvement over the previous version but having selected sites highlighted would be better.

One thing I find annoying is the prompting to turn on location on the phone. I get annoyed that Google pushes this more and more. At least Wikicamps lets me continue without turning it on ... just the annoying prompts to do so.

I have searched on the old Wiki and performed identical search
on the latest parody and found them missing altogether.

Try Cossack in WA.

Couple of sites on old Wiki, one on the new.

the architecture of this new Wiki is deplorable. the hunt for info from page to
page is daunting.

I wonder will they ever fix it? Can't imagine why it's such a mess - there's international
counteries named in the maps download - how come they haven't squawked about the
fool thing?

Thank goodness I still have the old one available. whern it goes, so do I.

Comparing my Windows version (not updated) with the new Android version they appear identical to me. No caravan parks or camping areas at Cossack, but several points of interest and 3 day use areas in the area. More if the area is widened. Point Samson has a couple of caravan parks but that is well away from Cossack.

Google tells me about a couple of camps nearby but the website for one is up for sale. Not sure on the other. Maybe they are no longer available.

Anyway, I believe it is an improvement. Not perfect but better. Others think otherwise. I don't need to say any more.

Check your filters. Can see no difference at all around Cossack between the old and new, there are no free camps/caravan parks around Cossack, just day use areas.

Personally finding the new one ok, haven't had any problems.

AWtT- the matter is that on the old Wike there IS sites in Cossack!

I still have the old version operative and I just searched for a simple site

that would indicate my dilemma.

How many more sites/towns have had stuff deleted?
