No 12 volt power. Intermittently!

Hi, I have a Colorado Frontier 2016 18ft. The battery is between 13.5 and 14.1. The battery terminal is clean and tight. All the fuses are ok, Ive checked all fuses and put a multi meter on the outlet so all good. Ive replaced the relay that works the cut off switch for all the 12 volt. Problem is 3 days no 12 volt power,  Sunday all good, Monday morning no power, then by mid morning all power. Tuesday morning no power, lunch time yesterday all power. Im thinking the solar inverter which everything runs through. Ive got TPS 1230 and when the power is on and I press the red button below the V it shuts off all the 12 volt power. Ive run an earth cable so I can check with my multi meter, there is power everywhere Except at the light switch!
your thoughts please.IMG_2988.jpegIMG_2986.jpeg

Just a thought,
Have you checked wiring at light switch, or the switch itself?

Yes, switch is good. Power to the cut out switch is good, the power to the relay is good. No loose wires anywhere. No power this morning as well. It came back on before lunch. Ive bought another solar inverter so hopefully that fixes it! Otherwise $$$$$.

When you say light switch Im guessing you mean the light switch on your solar controller.

You have a connection on your solar controller that controls the 12V loads to your van.  That is the connection to the far right and indicated with a lightbulb.  Generally the settings can be manipulated to turn on and off at certain times and it would suggest to me that this is what is happening with yours but from the manual it appears the on/off times cant be set on yours.  It may very well be a fault with the solar controller and a simple test with the multimeter on the load terminals when there is no power should confirm it.

Just remember to connect your new controller up to the batteries first.

Hi Tim, on the solar controller the switch with lights switch, I can press them on and off and nothing happens. There is no voltage on the load terminals . Sometimes they work, after awhile, like I said three days no power, then the last thee days no power in the morning and then lights and all twelve volts good till I switch them off in the evening!

Hi Len,

Definitely the controller so good luck with the new one.  They generally dont have a manual switch so turning the power on and off is done through the menu settings.  You can also set for particular times.

Tim

Seems your running your system through load .those terminals usually have a max of 4to5amps but are capable of being programmed for time on or off.most ppl don't use that facility only for maybe a security light.

 Hi Mischief,

Unfortunately that is incorrect as the load terminals are capable of handling the current stated by the controller.  In this case the maximum current is 30A as stated in the manual and I have yet to see a controller where the load output is lower than the output that it is capable of putting into a battery.
