i am not well and this just upsets me.

Looks andSmells like a SCAM.

Many Many year ago we received from the ABS a crop details survey, the old man dutifully filled out this survey every year, I was on leave from the miltary and at home when this survey turned up.

We sat down at the kitchen table discuss and fill out this survey, straight up I told him no to fill out the form, as it is personal and confidential data. Eventually I filled out form with a statement of Go a get F*&^%d, only the tax office gets to know about financials. After that we never received that form again.

The same applies to Census I will only fill out the number of residents and ages nothing else as many of the questions are too invasive.

It appears to be a genuine survey.

There is no need to get upset.

Typical government department.  Expecting you to "voluntarily" spend your valuable time and money for their benefit and not compensate you for it.

It would be a sad, sad world if no one did anything unless they were paid for it.

Big difference between doing something for free for a Government department that has a budget of millions and doing something for free for Fred (or Freda) Bloggs ordinary citizen.

The latter scenario is one I happily do, the former...not so much.

You expect (demand) the services that Government Departments provide. If everyone copied your attitude, those services would cost one hell of a lot more. I reckon you would be the first to complain about that?
What goes around, comes around.

They could have made it voluntary.

That can severely bias the group who respond which makes the whole survey useless.

Cheers,

Peter

The last census... couldn't do it online as our computer was 'too old' because of the operating system.

Give me a break!

I do 3d rendering with multiple computers, a render farm as well.

I asked them to send me out a paper copy. Which they did... eventually.

5 years earlier, the network crashed... & by the way, our computer was too old as well when their system died.

Was told that we will be deleted from the system. So to put it in black & white, our computer was too old so we didn't exist. I told them that, & they deleted us from the census.

Will be interesting doing the next census with my Sony phone, which will die soon due to 3g termination.

Was told both times after lengthy discussion over the phone... basically our filling in the forms will be binned. I purposely discussed with them that due to our old computers which can do fly through & "deep fakes"... in  more manual form in those days... Can't understand why the government computers couldn't organise a screw in a brothel.
