From my own experiences, everytime I buy a economical so called air compressor, it is great at first then don't use it for 6 or 12 months they do not work.

The last one from a fish shop I took back after 18 months, no correction the manger was filling my gas bottle and I brought up the subject of air compressor, she said to me to bring it back and she would refund my money.

This time I have purchased a Air Bagman Air Compressor, now 18 or more months down the track, I believe it to be possibly the best.

If you only plan occasional use the Ozito is probably fine, I have not used that one but have seen it, I do have several other Ozito tools.

Do not be tempted to change the clips for a cig lighter plug, you could fit an Anderson type plug for possibly more convenient use.

To me, if you ever had to use the Bunning unit, you would regret the purchase, at 70LPM compared to the Supercheap unit of 250LPM.

I have the XTM one and after reading those specs would not consider the Ozito. 4WD tyres take a bit to pump up, and the Ozito would become tedious.

It depends on the balance between "I don't think we will use the compressor much" and spending an extra $85.

You get what you pay for. 4x4 tyres need a bit more effort pumping up than car tyres.

I paid $200 for one 34 years ago. Granted it doesn't get a lot of use & it's not a flash one but it's still going.
I does need a new nozzle that clamps on the valve but I'll replace it soon.

Ozito is a once only brand - cheap, sometimes will work - at least Bunnings will keep on changing it over under warranty - not a remote area lifesaver.

The short term savings of no name brands or others which should be on the list, are they are not coated internally.

A compressor squashes air about 7 times atmospheric pressure. So 7 times the water in the system.

Don't use your compressor regularly, water sits inside, it corrodes the piston & cylinder due to 7 time the water sitting inside the compressor. So it can't lift the skin off a rice pudding.

It's stuffed due to internal corrosion.

Make sure the internal parts are PTFE coated.

XTM or Ozito. I doubt you could call either quality pumps. My earlier comment favouring the XTM was based purely on capacity. I highly doubt either would have a decent lifespan. The days of getting one that will last many years are gone, so if you have such a pump, treasure it.

If anyone knows of such a pump for sale, post a link. I won't be buying one, but others may.

Go for the brand Collo, it will save you in the long run. Cheap is cheap for a reason!

I fixed mine a few days ago out of necessity. It certainly works well now - I couldn't believe the change a new nozzle made.

PS - it's made in the USA

G'day Warren and Pat, long time no see, hope all is well up there in the tropics? Might be flying up (for a change) at Xmas.

I have a TJM pump and it has a screw on nozzle to the valve and was a real pain so found a attachment that screws into that and then just you just push onto valve, like at a servo. Much betterer.

I'm not sure if the TJM beast is the best around but does what I need.

The Millwaukee M12 for me. Compact and does the 4 van an 4 car tyres easily plus spares. All battery.
Don't need the compressor anymore.

I saw something advertised on Impaja last night called an Ezi-jak - a 12v operated rattle gun, jack & pump - all in a kit costing nearly $400. What it's like, I have no idea but could have done with one last week when did a tyre on the outskirts of Warrnambool. Those nuts were tight!

As I said above, I'm happy with my USA made "4X4 TUFF" compressor - it will probably see me out!

G'day Doug, we've been down your way on a quick family trip - to Toowoomba, Canberra, Cobram, Moama, Adelaide, Warrnambool - currently in Cunnamulla with lots of rain! We had planned to head due north but with narrow bitumen roads, mud & trucks, we're heading east to St George & up the conventional way via Emerald. I'll be in touch with you a bit later on.

I carry a 12" length of water pipe with my jack to slip over the wheel brace handle (for extra leverage) - the rattle guns used by mechanics tend to overtighten nuts IMO.
