Sydney to Carinda

Hi everyone,

A couple of questions , is it possible to do this on sealed roads?

Any suggestions on a stop over half way to 3/4s of the way there ?

Any recommendations for a good road map ?  non electronic.

Im on a ship just now and internet not great at times so maybe a while before I answer, but I will answer

thanks...

Yes, you can travel to Carina NSW by main seal roads from Sydney.

Once you get about 150 kilometers from Sydney there will be opportunities for low cost stop overs regularly.

As for paper maps, most large highway petrol station will have a small range of maps or Tourist Information Centres.

Enjoy your ship travel.

Camps 12 Book has a comprehensive set of HEMA maps within its pages - you get the added advantage of free or low cost camp sites Australia wide.

Thanks a lot radar that's really helpful, I have a road map of the whole country which is pretty good for main roads, will definitely look in the stations as suggested.

Had a few cousins (now deceased unfortunately) who owned large acreages out that way.
I believe Carinda has an excellent police station.
Many years ago the locals were perplexed at the Dept of Public Works (NSW) building a flash new police station there.
It was supposed to be Quirindi, not Carinda.
Too funny - government bungling.

Quote :

"Carinda Police Station

Despite Carinda having only 160 people, the police station is bizarrely big. In one of the great bureaucratic bungles, the plans for the QuirindI Police Station (not close in spelling to CarindA) were sent to Carinda. Despite the ridiculousness of the size of the building the station was completed to the specs. The upside is the station is now a multi-purpose building given that the citizens of Carinda have proven to be relatively well behaved and not requiring over 5% of their population to be regularly locked up."

If you follow Google Maps route planning, it will take you via Coonamble. I believe there is still some gravel road between Coonamble and Carinda. If you go via Dubbo and Nevertire, the road up the western side of the Macquarie Marshes is sealed.
