Thank you Hertz.

For running the mad EV experiment from 2021 so saving potential EV buyers a lot of wallet trauma. Turns out EV's are just like a very expensive Ipad or laptop, once the battery is scratched when you run over something the car is written off. EV's are twice as expensive to repair as an ICE vehicle on the Hertz fleet so Hertz is dumping tens of thousands of them and also reneging on it's order for thousands of Polestar vehicles as well.

Meanwhile Ford and GM America are sprinting away from EV's so fast Usain Bolt is choking on the dust.

Just think, if Hertz, with all their massive buying power cannot make financial sense of EV's how can you?

Cassenova Bowen has upped the ante even more with his new emission regulation a new ute could cost a $10000 extra in 2028 in a tax penalty.

Just another example of a tax/levy/fine being the the political first choice option to solve any problem. :(

And a pretty poor choice if you ask me considering the potential flow on effects of selling less utes (and potentially other SUVs which may also be impacted) because of the increased costs.  Obvious one from our perspective is that it will reduce the number of grey nomads who could afford to buy one, which in turn will reduce the number of caravans being sold and also the number of tourists using camping grounds.  Add to that the number of families who won't buy for the same reason and you potentially have a decent hit to the tourism industry (and related industries) which potentially will impact quite a few towns and a significant number of people.

Hopefully, somebody will think though the implications before they mandate it.  But I doubt it.
