When I press the igniter button on a friends van, the igniter clicks every 3 secs or so and eventually the cook top or oven, Flame lights up. This slow light up happens which ever cook top or oven has the gas turned on.
Don't know the brand of the stove its missing the label. I will need to check the 12v voltage which could be low, and am wondering if its a dry cell battery that fires up the igniter.
Any ideas appreciated, will also check the colour of the spark when I am around there next and clean the igniter points on the cook tops etc..
I would be checking the gas pressure from the regulator as this is common to each burner . low pressure slow and hard to light ,gas not in the spark area due to low pressure.
Have you checked nothing is blocked with dust or something?
I went to fire up my little gas torch in the garage last week and the igniter wouldn't work plus very little gas coming out. I discovered the problem was that the nozzle was blocked by wasps putting their 'mud' in there. A bit of a clean out and it's all good.
I've never bothered with the 'Piezo' ignitors. I have always used a gas lighter that I hang near stove. Even my Weber Q gets the gas lighter treatment. Handy for lighting the mozzie coils outside too.
Piezo ignitors can be troublesome little critters.
Keep Safe out there.

Thanks for your comments, he uses a gas lighter so all is good using the stove. Re the blocked Regulator, I did not think of that mainly because in our van if we are having issues with the Reg, the first thing to have problems is our gas 3 way frig. But friend has a 240vac frig. But even low/slow gas, to me should not slow down the electric igniter sparking.
