I want to replace my working 3 way {Electrolux RM 4280} with a bigger fridge/freezer, a the Brass Monkey Slim Line 138l which will fit perfectly into the cavity, being width, depth and some modifications to the height. 450mm (D) 460 (W) 1300mm (H). Yes, I already know they now note it is not for mobile use. Who runs a 12v fridge in their house with a power supply to drive it. It has no door latch and has glass shelves and is not designed for off-roading.
This is the only RV fridge I have found that will fit between the fresh water tank and the shower a width of only 500mm. My motorhome is fully imported from Japan and is a Vantec Zill. The only problem I can foresee is 1) if the fridge fails it is a replacement under the warranty. If there is no replacement then they will replace it with another similar fridge. Problem, Road Tech Marine are the owners of Brass Monkey and if they can't find a replacement in the warranty period therefore I'm left with a hole that I can't fill with another fridge. I suspect that the fridge will be discontinued in the near future as there are only a few for sale now.
So, the reason for this post is, if the worst was to happen and they can't source a 138l BM fridge then I'm wondering if there are any forum members who could recommend a RV fridge repairer so that I could have a chat to find out more and what my options might be. The sale ends in 3 days.

You could always cover the options by purchasing two new ones so you have a spare replacement, or for parts!
On a more serious note, there are a couple of members who seem to have good knowledge of refrigeration. Cheers

Not really cheap @ $800. Probably the worst that could happen is a refrigerant leak in the foamed in evaporator pipes, not really repairable. Compressor & its controler are repairable. But if you have to pay a fridgy it probably wont be worth it. Thats why i find Engel Waeco & other brands in the scrap yard.
I had that Brass Monkey fridge in my van for about 18 months after the Thetford stopped working. Had no problems with it but recently removed it to fit a larger domestic fridge.
If you were a bit closer to Adelaide I could probably save you a few dollars.
It's funny this subject came up yesterday when Barney and I meet up for a chat.
I replaced my 90litre Dometic 3 way fridge with a Samsung 228 litre digital inverter fridge (no longer available) 8 years ago, it required me to loose the draw which the dometic stood on.
The only additional requirement is to have a PSW inverter with a changeover switch to switch between 240v and the inverter, child safety catches from a hardware store easily mount for door locks.
After measuring the cavity have a look at appliances online, they may have something that will fit in the spot , and they offerfree delivery.
I used a Renogy inverter that has 240 volt "pass through". When the van is plugged into power the inverter is switched off and power is directly passed to fridge, when unplugged the inverter turns on automatically, keeping the fridge running without having to remember to do any switching.
I won't post anything negative about the brand name on this forum, however you may want to check productreview.com.au and look up other people's experience with Brass Monkey fridges.

I have been running a compressor fridge 24/7 for 18 months in the car. All up it's run at least 4 years total hours.
The only thing I am not happy about. If the fridge dies, the manufacturer doesn't make that 28L size any more. Now a 25L model. That loss of 3L is too much from my point of view. 40L will not fit in the car. So will just have to hope the fridge keeps going.
I put in months of work measuring, finding & building custom mounting bracket down to the mm to fit in the car. Wish I had bought a spare fridge or three!
Just how it is.
We had the same issue with home fridge, had 440L, but because all the new fridges need ventilation on the sides, we could only find one fridge that would fit the space, now 340L, without rebuilding the kitchen.
A spare or two fridges will be a lot cheaper than rebuilding & out last one's travels... hopefully!
