I am upgradiing from AGM to lithiiums. I have these currently installed but seeing as the lithium have battery management systems inbuilt I was wonderiing if these things are stilll required? Thoughts?
The top device is a diode, the paper tag appears to say car, possible to prevent voltage feedback. I would not use with new Lithium set up as long as suitable charging equipment is in place.
Agree, if it works why change it, & by default one has a jumpstart system.
If it is a weight issue, change it, but do it properly with quality products, failed rubbish products in a remote environment. Most learn the first time!
Make sure solar controller is suitable for lithium.

Here is a video of a newly released lithium battery.
It has it's own management system.
What is interesting is the communications port which to me indicates that the makers envision a future enhancement to permit connecting batteries in series to facilitate 24 and 48 volt systems. youtu.be/aahHWaV6Zdk
