I have a water leak on my hose input, the actual hose fitting is fine, it is the white star wheel type fitting that is leaking
Does anyone know how to remove it, it turns freely and probably has an o ring or two inside which need replacing I assume, or should I just replace the whole plate with all the fittings attached ? Ian
I don't think that is what is being asked about. My reading of the issue is that the leak is behind the white knob, not from the hose connector which screws into it.
Yes Cuppa is correct, the white knob is where the leak is and it just spins freely, it does not have a thread ( unless it is stripped ) I thought it may be pressed on and I could lever it off. Thought someone here might know before I destroy it. Ian
Maybe try to screw the hose fitting in while holding the white knob, it may seat against a rubber gasket between the fixed plpe on the van & the end of the hose fitting, I would take the hose fitting out myself to see how it is constructed, the white knob has serrations on it for a reason, let us know how you go,
Joda.
Take the teflon tape off the hose fitting as it may be preventing it from screwing in tightly. If you take it out you should see a rubber washer where it should sit tight against. If not then maybe the washer has come out. you should not have to use tape in the first instance. Just a thought.

Thanks Joda, yes I have had the hose fitting off, the white knob obviously has a female thread to accept the hose fitting, it can turn freely on a shaft and must be sealed with o rings which are leaking but I'm not sure how it comes apart. I thought someone here may have had the same problem. I'll just try and buy a new assembly . Thanks Ian
Thanks TimTim, I only put the thread tape on as that is where I thought it was leaking, I'll have a look and see if there is a missing washer, I thought someone would have a similar fitting that could confirm if there is supposed to be a rubber washer in there. There wasn't one there when I took the hose fitting out. I'll have a look if there is a seat there for a washer. Thanks Ian
Thanks Cuppa, I can see what's behind it, it is a fixed female thread, TimTim may be on the money and there is a missing rubber washer. I thought this fitting would be quite common and someone with one would know, if I take the plate off I might as well just change the whole thing ( if I can source one ). The problem is my van is in storage, about an hour round trip so when I go there I want to be armed with as much knowledge and parts as possible. Ian
If the blue JG pipe is the one in question, the bend in the pipe is acute enough to be providing a reasonable amount of pressure on the grey screw fitting. It is possible that this pressure , over time, could overly compress any rubber seal in that fitting. You can see that it has pushed the fitting off to one side a little.
Even if that is not the problem, if it were me I would re-do that short run of the pipe, & incorporate a right angle joiner in the middle of it (like the one above it) just as a 'peace of mind' thing.
