My Swift Gas/Elect hot water started to trip the safety switch intermittently. It turns out that the wiring for the element (and other wires) come out the thermostat block around some very sharp corners of the aluminium cutout (See att image). The caravan has done about 50,000 km and vibration or pressure has rubbed the insulation around the edge. I have fixed it with some silicone to re-insulate the wire and to prevent further abrasion. I also siliconed some of the other wires that were in the same situation. So, if your HWS starts to trip the safety switch this may be the cause. If it hasnt misbehaved yet it might be a good idea to put some silicon on before it does.
