Hubby and I was on 4 weeks holiday. Got home and opened mail next day and behold surgeon booking appointment less than a week away. Did appointment on Monday and they rang up next to day come in the following Monday for aneurysm surgery. Come home last night. Felt sorry hubby drove 2 hours to Brisbane and back home again and then got call to come back for another 2 hours back again and home (8 hours all up). My wording has not very good at the moment. Hi there all. It's been 4 weeks since my surgery and I'm feeling pretty good. The first week after I got home from hospital was a quiet week and I spent a lot of time sleeping, was so tired. Tell you what, I had some wacky dreams. The second week home was very busy. Two GP appointments to get the stables out of my head - from just above the right ear to up past the temple and in. A bit of hair had been shaved off but not a lot and when the rest of the hair falls over it, it is not really that noticeable. An appointment with a hearing aid place to get my ears cleaned (sucked out wax) which I normally don't have but my head felt blocked so got that sorted. After I got the staples out the "noises" in my head was very intense and they lasted a week and a half and I am pleased to say are now gone. I was walking with a walking stick to help balance but that too has gone. Yah. I had Bluecare come 3 days for two weeks to help shower myself and wash the hair which felt terrible. There is still some dry blood type stuff there but it is getting better. Had some trouble with my speech, sometimes what I thought and what came out of my mouth wasn't the same, but that seems to have abated. I'm not allowed to drive for 3 months so thank you to my husband for doing all the driving. I was thinking now that I don't have the aneurysm, I don't have to worry about it. I do have the clip (that is how they fixed it, by clipping it). I'd known about the aneurysm since January 2020 but it had gotten bigger during the past year (was having yearly scans) so was better to have it fixed before major complications eventuated. Thank you God and everyone who has helped me in any way.
Fabulous news Gayle, I've never needed any brain surgery, (I don't think they would operate on my head though).
Any long period of anesthesia can cause speech and sleep problems for a few years, but it gets better slowly but surely. Balance seems to get better at a slower rate, but slowing down a tad insn't bad, more time to smell the roses (when smell returns that is).
