We have been on the road for a couple of months mostly in outback red dust country during that time the water pressure in the van dropped off to just a trickle, I bought a new pressure regulating valve for $70 when we got to Canarvon and replaced the old one - problem solved. My question is would putting a pre filter on the water supply line prevent the valve from gumming up ? I suggested this to the guy in the RV spares shop where I bought the new one and he said it wouldnt make any difference.
Our home washing machine is reminding me to clean the inlet valve filter. Did this once before, couldn't believe the amount of particles in the copper plumbing at the filter. This is Sydney water & top floor of a block of units.

An in-line strainer should be fitted to lines between the tank/s and pump - don't put in a filter as it will put too much strain on the pump diaphragms.

I clip on a plastic hose end with a stop valve in it each time I disconnect the mains inlet hose from the van.
This just keeps all the dust and crap from getting inside the inlet of the water system whilst we are on the move.
A few bucks at Bunnings for a double ended fitting from the garden irrigation section.
After buying 2 brass pressure limiting valves @ $65 each. I picked up a plastic irrigation pressure limiting valve from the green shed @ $10, 4 years later, it is still working.
In fairness the original one took a hit with a rock, I did pull the others apart but really I could not see any damage.
In our en suited caravan, in preference we do like to use our tanks and water pump.
Thanks everyone for the feedback sorry I took so long to respond but we are currently on the road. That irrigation valve sounds interesting Radar I might see if I can find one the next time I visit the green shed. Might be a good to carry one as a spare.
