Ibis4 noise

We have a new ibis4 installed acouple of months back, works a treat however on our current trip using it for heating it sounds very noisy. Any ideas.

I had a new Ibis 4 installed 2 years ago. Mine has always been noisier on heat than cooling. No idea if this is normal for this device. Personally, I got used to it now. My original Ibis 1 was almost unbearable on heat mode.

I have a relatively new van with an Ibis 4 and the noise was relatively high when laying on the bed about 2 metres from it.

Download a noise measuring app on your phone and measure the dB level.

I used Decibel Meter.

I have run mine on cooling and found that running the fan on eco mode substantially reduced the noise.  Cant make any comment yet in heating.

I wish I had a solution for you.

Good luck.

Tim

Roof mounted units are noisy, worse on heat cycle - more of a reason to not have them on full bore. Eco mode OK.

Thanks everyone, spoke to a tech today and he advises to have the fan on auto while on heating not on 1 or 2 and he recommended placing a piece of cardboard under the edge above the louvres to direct the hot air down, both appear to be working.

Nothing much has changed over the years it seems ... at least for some products.  My rarely used 23 YO AC has always been noisy.  I put it down to the 'cylinder' type fan that mine uses.  Efficient but noisy.

I too use a piece of cardboard (actually an old office suspension file) to more efficiently direct air from the unit that is in the lounge area, into the bedroom section when needed.

Cassie, thanks for those tips especially the cardboard ones. Will try them next time I'm using a powered site.

We also had an Ibis 4 fitted last year, and it too sounds like a truck turbo on heat. Our solution is to use a floor blower heater!

Editing. I meant when it was selected to heat.. Not necessarily like it was randy!
