Fire at T1 Lithium in Mannum

There has been a serious fire at T1 Lithium in Mannum last night. Over half a million dollars damage reported. Terry the owner used to be a member of this forum. Very sad news.

Very sad indeed. Terry and Margaret are lovely people, always happy to help, and know the Solar business better than anyone I've ever had dealings with. Terry did things with my van that others had said couldn't be done?

Let's hope that they're quickly up and running again. Best wishes to them both. Cheers

Yes agreed, sad news when it may be the demise or a major setback for such a helpful couple.

It is a pity when someone who has been so helpful to GN's in the past has such a setback - The Forensic Investigators will ultimately report on the causation, but it doesn't help the already bad image of fire/lithium debate.

LiFePO4 is regarded as a safe battery chemistry. Let's hope the fire was not caused by a battery issue.

Terry said he can't come back from it, so gut wrenching, hope insurance comes to the party, as it seems that investigators said they cannot tell what caused it at all..

Sad to hear of this, as I personally thought that T1 Terry was a good contributor, on this forum

Also sad to hear (on the video), that Terry was gutted, and will not rebuild his business

All the best to him, in the future, and I hope they find the cause of the fire

Yes Terry was a good contributor with his knowledge however he constantly broke the rules on advertising, I would guess that was a problem as at the time there was a advertiser/supplier of Lithium Batteries paying for ads when Terry was getting his for nothing.

X2 on Dorian's & Tony's statements
I contacted the company a whole ago - found that Margaret was the brains (her words) behind the company!

I only recommended a friend a week ago who has a motorised wheelchair at Pt Fairy to contact Terry. Alas.

Very sad. I too got a lot of info with regard to Lithium batteries from his posts. I can see where he is coming from not rebuilding the business, at his time of life he probably is not prepared to go through all the hoops again that come with setting up again.

I have sent them an email and wished them all the best.

Oh no thats really bad news . Terry installed the battery system in our caravan, actually his first job in their new shed in Manuum 2016. This is devastating news. Terry and Margarets knowledge of how to set up lithium systems is second to none, and his willingness to help and give advice is second to none in my opinion.

Very sad news indeed.

It was Terry's posts all those years ago on these forums that convinced me to install a LiFePO4 battery pack in our motorhome.
Nine years of full-time travel later that same battery continues to both start the truck and power the house behind faultlessly.

Thank you Terry and Margaret and all the best for the future.

That is not good at all for them...i don't know them. But, i was in a Battery World store yesterday organising a test on an AGM battery, and they said will not charge or test any Lithium battery unless it is one of theirs. They had their previous premises burned down as well by apparently a faulty lithium battery that exploded.

Well that just goes to show how much the person or persons that made that decision really know about LiFePO4.  The batteries they had problems with would not have been that type and more likely LiPo.

Yes & Terry used soley LiFePO4 in part because of their safety factor. That Battery World Store are probably sensible to be cautious given their ignorance of the different battery chemistries.

Hi I wish them well and hope they get past this set-back.

I followed Terry here and also had a few jousts with him on the forum. But before we elevate him to a saint we could remember he was banned on this forum and another one for intemperate statements and breaking forum rules.

I have sent a couple of people to their business over the years that lived over there.
