More like he comes from an ever diminishing group with an even bigger diminishing audience delivering a script from an even further diminishing area of relevance.
Here are a couple of happy snaps with the great man showing his true independence to reporting facts.

Gee mate you must have sad life to turn a positive into a negative.
There was no positive Gundog. Like your comments a few days ago, you just put them out there to draw a response. Usually I just ignore them but this clown is an absolute drop kick.

Guys, it takes all sorts to make a world. Personally I have never heard of him either but then, I don't watch anything that has Murdoch's imprimatur on it.

I think you are right, the vast majority of folk reside somewhere between the extremes.
It is a sad reflection of the modern age that so much debate is hijacked by those at the extremes, often accusing anyone who is unsupportive of being at the opposite extreme. All too easy for folk to get sucked into that too. Polemics are very powerful, but ignore the majority with the aim of turning divisive debates into black & white when mostly it resides in the grey.
He is an ex Sky Channel presenter who falls well & truly into the classification of right wing polemicist.
No Cuppa he's a current Sky presenter Sunday to Thursday 9pm. Yes Pual is a Conservative but he has regular panelists like Stephen Conroy, the Deupty Mayor of Melb and a few other labor identies like Richo from the left but he has his night where he says tonight no sooks and lefties.
Paul in the lead up to the NSW state election was against the re-election of the DP's mob, suggesting voting for anyone other than labor, greens, libs and teals.
I have been a Foxtel subscriber for over 20 years the Sky News channel (or whatever it was that it replaced) was actually once a proper news channel that ran political opinion programs probably only to fill a hole. It even had a feature where you could push a button and all the different cities, sport etc would appear as options so you could select reports from those areas. I dont remember how long ago it began to change but first they removed the select option and then slowly went from reporting actual news to only running political opinion programs. The Sky News commentators usually start out trying to appear middle of the road but over time they all gravitate towards the Murdoch side of politics or they jump ship eg. David Speers and Stan Grant. I dont watch the ABC either because they have the opposite one sided bias to what Sky News has. Personally when I want to see what is happening I check out the Apple News app. or even watch reports on channels like Al Jazeera or the BBC. I used to watch Paul Murray reguarly and although he was always passionate with his views he seemed to become a bit more extreme after his visit to the US to report on a State Dinner that Trump put on for ScoMo so I switched him off. Nowadays I avoid watching anyone on Sky News, ABC, CNN or Fox News because of the continual one sided commentary that they bombard their viewers with.

BB
like you BB we have had PaytV since the Galaxy days its only recently I have gravitated to watching a bit of Sky, I used to watch News from 7 or 9 both and 10 have become gotcha and opinion presenters none is news worthy and the same has happened to Nines newspapers all stories are lefty biased.
I source most of my news from many online news feeds, but even them have become biased and click bait news ie News.com.au and the Guardian.
Because I am basically a right of center sport loving person, Peta and Paul tend to do ok, I dont support the narrative that Paul or Peta are ultra right wing commentators, because both are presenters and commentators, which are very different to journalists.
i myself, like to listen to a variety of commentators with varied opinions so i can form my own opinions bases on life experiences an how thing affect me. i particularly like listening to commentators that have different thoughts on a subject than i do, it exercises the mind and tests my thoughts on a subject.
"a brilliant polemicist with an independent critical mind"
Yes I saw that online as a definition.
However when I wrote it I had another definition in mind as it seemed better to capture what I observed of him.
From the Merriam Webster Dictionary :
Polemic - 1. an aggressive attack on or refutation of the opinions or principles of another. 2. the art or practice of disputation or controversy
Polemicist- an aggressive controversialist.
I thought the Wikipedia definition also fitted what I saw of him
"Polemic is contentious rhetoric intended to support a specific position by forthright claims and to undermine the opposing position. The practice of such argumentation is called polemics, which are seen in arguments on controversial topics. A person who writes polemics, or speaks polemically, is called a polemicist"
