Public holiday, a reasonable number of people enjoying the public parks.
Happened to be passing through a few public parks on a walk, needed to duck in for a number one. All the toilets locked.
Really!
End result had to water a tree, at least discreetly.
This could become the norm now that the control of many public areas are being handed to minority groups.
Handballing this control and maintenance relieves authorities of their responsibilities and all while appeasing the folk who think all of the public areas in Australia can be better controlled by these groups.
Meanwhile we have a situation where a person risks a charge of indecent exposure while in a public area.
I should ask was it locked or was the door controlled by coin or card entry?

Another cryptic comment along the same lines as the one you made in the thread about National Parks when you referred to minority groups & micro economies.
Clearly this is something you feel strongly about. Perhaps we should all be concerned?
Are these unidentified minority groups who are now controlling National Parks expanding to public toilets too, or are the public toilet ones different groups?

Perhaps there has been a problem with the public toilets eg a blockage which has caused the facility to be unusable. Unfortunately, not all problems can be attended on a public holiday unless someone pays a high cost for the repair, if they can find someone to do the work. Yes, it makes a public convenience facility, not convenient.
Does a financially strapped council pay someone a fee for being a standby repairer over a long weekend or not?
It's one of a couple of regular toilets I use as I am in the area all the time. I have even put up new brackets on the back of the toilet doors due to vandals as council doesn't know what a screwdriver is.

Ah, now I understand that it is your local area.
Any improvements to service if you contacted your local council elected official?
I am going to try with that avenue about some issues in our area.
Not a public holiday today, another toilet block locked. If there weren't so many kids in the vicinity, a number one or even a second message at the door would have been an appropriate message.

You are having a bad run there. Lucky you don't have a case of them, ie a case of the runs.

A bad 'run' pretty much says it!
The Bosch 10.8v angle grinder & a bit of water for cooling the metal will make mince meat of this situation. I may next time pack the "key"!

I am starting to think that we should go down the path of southern Italy, where there is a 'toilet man' who cleans & maintains the facilities (makes a typical Australian shopping centre toilet look like an open pit by comparison).
You pay a Euro to use the toilet, the 'toilet man' looks after the facilities, they are so clean one could do open heart surgery in there. Never once was there cheap paper, or the ultimate insult as in Camoolweal in Queensland.
A job for the unemployed it which in Italy these people take pride in the cleanliness, & as a result the people using the facilities appreciate the arrangement.

Do you not have 2 toilets at home?
I have one & the other half has one!
& there is a common toilet in the block of units if there is the need, which recently I polished up the mechanism & replaced the gasket.
Wasn't a public holiday but yesterday we came across the locked toilet ( mostly ) syndrome in a park in Longford Tas,
Both male and female loos were locked but the disabled wasn't... Bizarre...freaky **** was about to happen l tells ya! Lucky l got in first Hehe!
This was a park with most of the swings, bike paths etc etc People with kids playing etc etc
There was another park 6-700 hundred metres away but that ain't much use if you gotta go NOW, your just passing through and you follow the dunny signs.
It could have been a really crap visit.

I would be more worried about the processing of bamboo, eucalyptus leafs etc with Carbon Disulphide. Extremely toxic, often the products are made in countries where where are no OH&S or environmental standards.
