DPF filter problems in DMax

D max 2017 I have owned since new and when it got o 145000 km and just out of warranty of corse the dpf wants to do a burn every 50 to 100 km instead of the 500km which is supposed to do .

I took it to my trusty izuzu service centre and they said 5000 grand will fix the problem and I thought they can stick thatwhere the sun doesnt shine.

The car is not effected in any way and has done now 170000 km with no issues .I recently went to super heap in the Boxing Day sales and walked past a product called diesel power in a one litre bottle and said it cleans injectors dpf filters and all the other things that it does and I thought why not Ill give anything a go.  The formula is 1ml per litre of fuel and the shelf price was 47 dollars much cheaper than the diesel additives which I use all the time to no avail.

The stuff works straight away but if you forget to put it the tank the burn light comes back on so it might be a regular thing to use

cheers

Morning John,

I use 'Flash Lube' Diesel Conditioner once a month. I just put 70mm in with 70lts of fuel at fill time. There are a few different flavors around but this one came highly recommended by a few different people that know what they are talking about. One is/was a diesel mechanic. I buy a 500ml bottle from Autobarn.

Hi T Younger, I think you meant 5 grand, 5000 grand is definitely too steep. You will find there are other companies that specialize in cleaning you DPF for less than half that price. It come up on the Isuzu forum occasionally, do a google search I'm sure you'll find something in your area.  Ian

Don't thinks it's so much about cleaning the DPF as to why the computer want to do it every 50 - 100km. Had a Pajero doing the
same. Loss of power whilst in progress. PITA towing a caravan or burning more fuel then it should crossing the Nullabor.
Sounds like it could be a sensor giving a false reading thereby initiating a clean. From your description it doesn't sound
like there's a problem with the DPF or is there? $5000 is a replacement DFP?
Yes you can get around this by feeding it injector cleaners and the likes but not the solution long term.

Yes that was typo 5000 to replace by Izuzu I guess they dont clean them.
I might just put up with it and move onto the next vehicle

TY, the answer you're looking for is 99% in this forum. There's a thread on DPF pressure differential sensor problem.

Might save you some $ in fix your problem if interested.

G'day John,
We I had our MQ & GQ Patrols, I used Chemtech Diesel Power in the fuel tanks but not in the quantities that you're using (a heavy dose initially) though. I used about 30ml in 140L but used it on every fill. I was put on to their products after seeing a demonstration in Ceduna by the them Castrol, Subaru & John Deere agent. Chemtech surpassed the other brands of additives & greases.

Whew I took the cars for injector rebuilds at about 140,000km periods the specialist as if I was using an additive as the injectors were very clean.

As our GU was a turbo & I fitted gas injection, I didn't use the product as the burn rate of the gas was higher than that of the GQ (added the gas instead of installing a turbo).

Thanks for the info as I may need it when my D-Max doubles its distance. I'll check on the Isuzu forum too - they have some good stuff there. I know Western Filters advertise DPF cleaning - how long it takes & what cost, I have no idea.
