Just looking at some of the road & bridge infrastructure damage, not a lot of options of alternative routes & they probably have the same issues.

Yes, it certainly is not good. Because of impassable roads (bridges) there have been permits issued that allow triple Roadtrains to cross the Nullarbor.
From Port Augusta they'll head North to Kununurra and on to Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing etc.
Extra distance is 2000km plus, and freight costs will be much higher, so prices in shops will skyrocket.
On another note, there has been suggestion that some of the people who lost (commission) houses in Fitzroy Crossing be evacuated to the unused accomodation in Perth that was built for Covid quarantine purposes.
Having been to Fitzroy Crossing, and observed the behaviour of some of the young ferals, I shudder at the thought of them being let loose in an area where laws MAY be enforced? In Fitzroy they do as they wish. Cheers
Six months before Covid-19 arrived we flew to Broome from Melbourne, hired a Maui motor home & took 25 days to travel the 2,500kms to Darwin via the Great Northern, Victoria & Stuart Hwys.
The roads were excellent, my wife did all of the driving, I navigated & planned overnight stops at rest areas, together with visits to points of interest along the way.
The only town that we decided not to stay at was Halls Creek, it had a very unfriendly vibe & the CP was a fortress to keep ''the locals'' at bay.
We found Fitzroy Crossing a friendly town all around. We walked across the now severely damaged bridge a number of times on our early morning exercise walks.
Its a great part of our country with amazing scenery, flora & fauna.

Looks like it may be a job for RAE Corp to put in a temporary bridge then it could be operational in a shorter time. The one that collapsed may not pass scrutiny for repair, then it could be a considerable amount of time before it is completed.

While I was there two young travellers were attacked in a caravan park by teenagers, and had their car stolen. One of the assailants was a 12 year old girl who later died when the thieves crashed the stolen car.
Cars with no doors, no windscreens, no rego etc run around town, driving where ever it suits the driver. This may be across blocks, or on the footpath or the wrong side of the road, with youngsters hanging out the side windows, yelling obscenities and throwing stones etc at people.
Large groups sit under trees near the servo, eating endless supplies of fried "food", smoking, and drinking many cans of Coke and other drinks. Wonder where they get the money to buy this stuff?
Driving through town is best done in daylight hours when there's less chance if having stones hurled at your vehicle.

Too hard to enforce the Law on most of the itinerants...to do so just brings more grief and theft so much easier to let them walk in, take what they like and walk out. A bit like what often takes place I believe at the Coles / Shell servo in Mt Isa...
Unless things have got worse,we have never had any problems with aboriginals.We have stayed at Halls Creek 3 times.
Once at the hotel we were having lunch and a lady invited us to join them in the bar.There quite a loud noise going on but we went in,they were watching the footy on TV full blast.We joined in and played pool watched the footy and had a great time, and we were the only whites,we were all one enjoying each others company.
When we were leaving, stopped at the Pub to get a slab of beer,they was along queue at the little window where they pass the beer through,got at the end of the line.But they insisted I go to front.
Never had any problems,and there been a few times where we have interacted,must be the way you come across with them.
