Need Help with Roof Hatch.

Howdy all.

I need some help/advice with one of the roof hatches please.

The hatch is stuck open about an inch and the inside handle just keeps going round and round, neither winding the hatch lid up or down.

Don't know the brand of hatch but it says Remis printed on it in 2 places that I can see. (Remis 10023933)

It is approximately 500 mm x 700 in size.

The last few times it was clunking when winding it down, at the last inch then needed a little extra force to get it past that spot, and was ok when winding it up, till now.

I cannot see how to access any part of it.

The second photo is of a small piece of broken off plastic that was sitting on the flywire screen.

Any ideas on what is wrong, how to fix, etc please.

Thanks, Joe.

Sounds like a crown and pinion cog has broken.

The cowling that holds the fly and shade screen is usually a "Snap-on" fit, it would most probably need to be removed to access the mechanism.

If you can get on roof you may be able to access from under the clear dome.

The Remis roof hatch is made by Alko so send an email to them and they may be able to help.

Thanks for the replies so far fellas.

Good to be able to see that video.

2 things to ask about -  The video rightly says you need the cover open 6 inches to get into it. Hmm, Mine is stuck open at 1 inch and will not budge, so cannot access any thing. Any ideas?

And what  would be the need to remove all the bristles from the spiral wire? Could it be to allow the twisted cable to turn more  freely in it's sheath, maybe.

Cheers, Joe
