Hi maids,
One easy way to check is to go to a public weighbridge with the van as it is currently, empty, or loaded for the trip, your choice, pay a small fee and you will know what it is. You can even go to the local tip, over the weighbridge and do it for free probably if you ask nicely.

Was it new when you bought it Janet?

If so, perhaps talk to the dealer, if not, then as Jaahn says, Tare becomes somewhat pointless, and your best course of action would be to load it as you will for trips away, including food, water in tanks if you intend to travel that way, all your goods and chattels, and yourselves, and see what your all up weight is, comparing it to the GVM.

The difference between GVM and Tare does seem an exceedingly low load allowance. The figures you quote, do they come from the compliance plate after conversion, or off of the information from a website, dealer, rego or prior owners.

I must say if the figures are correct, as Tare would exclude anything you put in the van, fuel and yourselves, you will be travelling very light with a load allowance of 230kg.

I think I would be loading as you will for travel, and see what that figure is.

If below the GVM, then you are fine, if above, then you have an issue, depending how far over you are.

Good luck working this out.

PS. I am always a bit siss about Tares on rego papers. Do the 2 GVM figures line up?
