I have a later D Max and am thinking about replacing the 4 tyres. Most kilometres travelled are whilst towing a van. Also the most time it is on the black tar. I am after recommendations of tyres and brands etc. I also do not want tyres that seem too noisy on the road. On my previous tow vehicle I used a set of Michelin tyres but that was quite a while back. So if anyone has had a good run with a particular tyre and brand for a Dmax your opinion would be appreciated. My van is a Option Rv 19'6" semi off road Distinction. All opinions will be appreciated and I thank fellow travellers for their reply posts.
Cheers and safe travels
Jim

Hi Jim. I bought my D Max new in 2014 and it came with Bridgestone A/T tyres. I don't drive it off road and I don't think it has seen more than about half a kilometre on a dirt road. I decided to replace the tyres at 65,000 km and they still had (according to the tyre man) about 5,000-10,000 km left in them. I replaced them with the same Bridgestone A/T and now at 129,000 I have had 64,000km out of them and they would still have 5,000 to 10,000 left in them'
I reckon I would have used the tug for towing about 25% at max. I recall someone telling me that the manufacturers know what tyres go best with their vehicle and to use whatever they came with as a bare minimum. I think that I will purchase more Bridgestones when they are ready to be replaced.
They give a good ride and without too much noise. I have had an extra leaf put in the rear suspension and I think that makes the ride a bit firmer, I can't fault the tyres as they are really good for the type of roads I travel on and for towing my 18 foot van.
Its often not the brand ! But the type of tyre you bought . Usually the deeper the tread as in mud tyres are noisier for road use .. where you happy with tyres fitted ? Imo keep the same profile / aspect ratio . Bridgestone make good tyres . Steer clear of Sam Yangs etc
