If watching a TV is something that you do on a regular basis, and is something you enjoy, certainly it would be a good idea. Watching TV is not something I do often, other than the news, but I used to have it running in the background while I was reading. However, since I now have Spotify, with unlimited music, the TV gets little use. Cheers
Yes. We had a tv in our on-site van. Have a 240v/12v tv, antenna and satellite setup for our camper trailer. We did not use one for donkeys years but do now.
Years ago when we were tent campers all the time we had a portable all in one cassette player, radio & TV. Our kids loved watching TV while we were away. Go for it I reckon.

Have you thought of just taking a laptop and watch TV on that?
If you have the Internet and a reasonably good data account you can watch 7Plus and the other digital channels that way. If you have Netflix or similar you can also watch that. I often don't have TV cover but have Internet cover so do it that way. I now have a Smart TV in my aluminium tent so no need to watch on my laptop. I have been known to watch on my phone as well. I mainly watch Netflix and Stan though. The Digital TV channels have some good stuff on though these days.
Whatever you decided, enjoy but Keep Safe out there.

When we used to go tenting we would take a TV/DVD combo device with a non-directional TV antenna. We would also take a 12v battery, solar charger and mini fridge which formed our table.
Now we take our semi off road caravan with TV/DVD combo device.
Why not if you have the room, lets face it, if you don't take it you will probably end up cursing, " darn I wish I'd bought that bloody tv" If you take it, no rule says you "have" to watch it. Cheers Ian
Most van parks have camp kitchens and they usually have a TV.
The problem with that is if you are not there to select you program before anyone else you will be lucky to watch your chosen program.
If you have room take your own. If you have a laptop or a tablet then consider that.
Do what suits you, it is your happiness, but dont forget a table or stand for the TV.
Some parks have TV coaxial connections so you may not even need an aerial.
Enjoy your week away.

Welcome to Biggs Country many may know it as Australia
We have travelled without tv for several years & have rarely missed it. On occasions when house-sitting/caretaking sometimes we have had a tv, & have enjoyed the odd programme & even a series, but mostly just watched the news. No motivation to carry one with us. Early nights are common, but when a tv is part of the equation going to bed gets later & getting up gets later. In the tropical north where we have spent a deal of time, this often has meant missing the best time of the day.
We have a portable satellite tv set up, but left it at home for space & weight reasons.
Years ago when travelling in a bus a young boy came over to us in a remote bush camping spot, pointed at our satellite tv dish & asked what it was for. "For tv" I told him. He looked at me disapprovingly & said "My dad says it's not proper camping if you have a telly", to which I replied "Do you have a telly at home?" "Course we do" he retorted. "Ah, well you see, this is our home" I explained, pointing to the bus. I could tell from his expression he couldn't wait to get back to his dad to tell him.
No rights or wrongs. just a final comment. Think about what you hope to get out of your camping trip (ie. why camping) & if the tv fits for you - take it.
to all who gave ideas to my post .....i have been told i can use my laptop computer to watch the news via wifi in the van parks .....and other programs as well .......so i will be taking my laptop with me ........so i now have all i need for camping ....cheers all ............maybe see you down the track
You can buy a usb digital TV tuner used with an tv antenna. Used one before the digital came in. Worked just about everywhere there was tv reception. Pick them up for 30 or 40 $. A small antenna and away you go.
When van was built mid 2005, we decided that at $5k to have a TV/sound system set up put in, we would give it a miss. We could have the antenna cable inlet point and internal cabling included for nix.
Had our own antenna, would get a smallish set up, and did so and now can have TV almost where ever as we can also pick up local transmissions from sat relay set ups as we did when working in Woomera. However we rarely use the TV.
At the large Truck Rest area north up the Newell from Narrandera, Firetail from memory, in the middle of a full on all night heavy rain event yours truly decided to try it out and we got the full range of free to air stuff from four different antenna direction settings ( four different Riverina towns), but why bother, we end up playing Scrabble, Quiddler or what ever.

I slowly realise as I get older that I am definitely NOT the fastest rat in the race.
Also the older I get the more I realise I do not know.

We bought a sat tv for our travels mainly because we often travel remote or in unfamiliar states and we need weather information, bushfire news so we can plan our movements accordingly.
It also provides entertainment via a hard drive of downloaded utube shows and watching our AFL team.
If you're paying for a powered site then why not? And take an electric frying pan, small fan heater (that can be used for the warm or chilly nights) as well.
Otherwise, just use what they have in the camp kitchens, games' rooms.

If you don't get it done today, there's always tomorrow!
If I could and actually wanted to in that particular circumstance..., I would. Also..., because I prefer to stay remote(away from too many people)..., sometimes in the evenings there are some shows I'd like to watch.
And last but not least..., if I knew how to run a TV set-up, from my current remote solar system.
