Looks like 'make sure it's dry' & 'take plenty of mozzie repellant' might be worthwhile suggestions?

Have never been there, & in fact had never heard of it, but now it has me intrigued enough to tuck away in my unwritten file of 'possibilities for the future.

Hope to read a report of what you find there.

Well... it won't be for a while as I'm currently stuck in the forest south of Robinvale (NW Vic) and after 60mm of rain recently the tracks are now in a state where no way will I be able to get a caravan out for at least one month or more. Oh well... I know this country well and knew that was a possibility when I came in... I just didn't think it would happen :)

Fortunately I have plenty of supplies and can, probably, get the 4WD alone out so life could be a lot worse :)

The Lindsay Island section of Murray-Sunst NP is one of the most boggy sections of terrain along the Murray River in Winter.
The Old Mail Road is closed for many months during wet periods.
Lucky for you you won't be able to get in there because if you did, you'd never be able to get out.
If you want to camp near there camp at the Pump House- Lock 9 on the Murray about 8kms North of Lake Culluleraine.

Its a great area in dry times, dont be put off & keep it in mind its one of the really special areas of Victoria. The Old Mail Road is the most slippery track that we've ever been on & that was when it was open.

Note the Dry Weather Only on our 4x4 map.

The ruts in the tracks on the island are so deep they would almost swallow a vehicle.

Another safer alternative is on the NSW side of the river. From Wentworth a road runs to Rufus River, its bitumen as far as Fort Courage, then gravel. There are some nice remote camping spots along the river.

We travelled through there a few weeks ago after spending a few nights right up near McCabes corner, it hadn't rained for a couple of weeks at that point but there were still lots of boggy bits. Was a nice drive along the Old Mail Route too.
