Low pressure LPG single burner

I'm looking for a single burner so I can make use of my bayonet fitting. Would be great just to cook a quick meal.

There are a few about but all apear to be cast iron. ( heavy)

Any suggestions?.

I have seen a stainless steel cased single burner wok cooker I thought would be handy, it was not cheap.

Mush have a think where or who had it.

Have a look at a Rambo Wok Burner on EBay......approx. $240 (last year ) delivered. A true Wok Burner with a  higher pressure regulator and  push button ignition. Enough instant heat on demand to "sear" not "stew".  Instead of 8Mj or 12 Mj. of heat (as per normal everyday gas burners) it puts out up to 55Mj. A true Wok burner and I reckon it would also be good for large pots used for  Crays and Crabs (just an idea as I am not a "Fisherman"..!)

Easily the best burner I have used for Wok (Stir fry )  food . - hot and quick ( same as in Asia)

I know it is not "low pressure" (just screw the Rambo Regulator into your gas bottle)  but thought it maybe of interest to some.......KB

I have used the Companion Double Wok burner and I'm sure you can get a single wok burner. I bought mine online from Snowys.

Thx Radar but if they are the ones I think they are they are high pressure. I have two. They screw direct to a bottle.

Careful OB that extra weight might be pushing the boundaries.

Thst one is out. 4.3 kg, waaay too heavy. I don't understand why you can't get one under 2kg. There would be no benefit. I could just bring my 2kg gas bottle with the screw on gas mate burner. I need to watch my weight. ( too much beer and wife cooked meals. Lol) Every kg counts.

Here is one 3.2kg cheaper too.

Yep, your right again Doug. Every kg matters if your towing with a Toyota. .....Or was that Triton?  Sheesh now I'm confused.  Too many ice cold beers from the threeway.

G'day Radar, long time no see.

Nah! If OB puts a box on his bull bar he can carry it in there. Eliminating the need for a WDH.

Perfect weight distribution.

Nice thought Doug, but with a lightweight 1260kg front axle, the box will need to be  VERY small. Could always splash out and buy the Toyota with an almost 1000kg higher GCM, and NO need for any WDH! But since the Toyota is such a good vehicle the waiting list to purchase is so long that Toyota have stopped taking orders. Why would that be, I wonder? Cheers

Cardboard box up front will be fine and easy for him to find the gas ****er when he needs it.

Perfect.

Or, I could bolt it to the rear bumper. Then when the tail wags I will be a happy camper. ;)

Lucky I don't have a Toyota. They never wag their tails. Never happy, always over loaded. ;)

Overloaded, you say? With a 2300kg rear axle it is unlikely that the Toyota would ever be overloaded. If a towing vehicle "wags its tail", it is because yaw has taken over. Most prevalent on lightweight vehicles towing heavy vans, and exacerbated by the use of a cure-all WDH. Cheers.

What the weight of a wdh set up. Just jesting.

Basically what is the difference between low and high pressure systems.

We have a bayonet gas fitting on our caravan so I would guess that is low system.

A high pressure is direct from the bottle.

Is that correct?

I know, get a licenced gas fitter.

 Correct.

The direct off bottle is about 95psi. But this varies a lot, dependent on temperature.

https://www.elgas.com.au/blog/1969-how-much-pressure-is-in-lpg-propane-cylinders-in-what-state/

Appliances use a very tiny jet.

If using gas after a regulator (e.g. at the bayonet) 0.4 psi. Jet is huge, sometimes just the control valve I think.

These are high pressure. I see no reason why you shouldn't get a low pressure under 2kg I doubt these weigh 0.5 kg.  But add the bottle??

The subject still is "Gas Cookers", but some of our members have chosen very lightweight vehicles, so the weight of every item they choose to carry is of great importance to them. Surely you don't regard that responsible attitude as "off topic"? Cheers

P.S Overloading lightweights.
