Hi this is bilnetti,we were thinking of travelling the great central highway from leanora to yalara which we done about 10 years ago,but this time with a caravan with off-road suspension and a ford ranger two spares for van and only one for the car we have enough fuel for 800 ks we would be checking weather conditions before but would like to know if anyone has done the trip recent as to tyre pressure and any other things that we w would come across. we will be doing it in three weeks .
We would really appreciate any current information
Cheers
Bill

I did it in 2016 by pushbike, the corrugates were a foot apart, virtually the whole way, their were bit's and pieces of vehicles everywhere. Just drive to conditions I would say, that is not fast, lower your tyre pressures, and after doing the Gunbarrel ( only 200km of), the Canning Stock route, and the Tanami Track, I found in my motor vehicle that I needed the second spare for the car, so advise that you get a second spare, puncture repair kit, spare tube, good as a backup , compressor and tyre removal tools.. And also have extra water. No recent run for me on the GCR though.

We came over to Yalara from Laverton in July this year. The road is bitumen out to the Breakaways, about 50ks,  and the road good except for a few sections, the worst was on the NT side but just corrogated - let the tyres down and travel slowly and you'll have no problems. Some beautiful scenery out there!

We did Lenore to Yalara in 2019, would do it again any day, no issues with the road except for the Northern Territory section due to corrugations, no money for anything in the NT, but at least the road was sand so not too torturous.

We don't tow. We let our tyres down to 22psi which made the whole trip comfortable.

We have TPMS, second spare, 3 compressors, tyre repair kit.

We did see one idiot flying along at about 130kph with caravan in tow.

We are petrol, no issues getting fuel, do have an additional 50L,  just a bit pricey due to the remoteness. Just keep your fuel in view out there.
