Hello, I was hoping someone could tell us if we're allowed to take fruit and veg (and a jar of store bought honey) into NSW (Broken HIll) from South Australia (Adelaide)? I know you can't doing the reverse.
One of those quarantine stops, they went through our car like they had a quota to fill.
I could see the people behind getting pissed off. The longer the border people looked the more time they wasted. We just don't take anything, too complicated what you can take across the different zones.

Thanks Frank. Its a bit ambiguous that web site! It seems to say we need to contact them for an exemption or certification. But the quarantine stop seems to only be on the into SA side so I assume going out with fruit and veg is fine?
The information centre in Port Augusta is really good, worth stopping in, even for their clean toilets. I bought a new HEMA map apart from a few other items.
One of the other items on their shelf.

There are quarantine restrictions in areas that are part of the Riverina. I cannot remember if the areas are in Victoria or NSW or both. As suggested by others, check online.

Having gone through those in the Riverina and out of Broken Hill, it more often then not depends of the clown manning
said station. Young attractive female backpackers tend to get let off by being asked to bin the 'prohibited' items.
Greynomads can be given the once over, especially on the SA to WA border. Reference to the website items does NOT
seem to register any interest with the simpleton at the check point. At the end of the day you're at the mercy of Mr in
an authoritarian position.
Honey is a conundrum as no one could explain. It was a long time down the track when someone explained it. In short
it has something to do with a possible egg from a species unwanted that may be in the honey.

Yeah, Tin Gods.No hopers with a false sense of their importance to the world. All too common among public servants. Cheers
