Lots of caravans go to Weipa.
What the road is like depends on the time of year you go, the weather and when the grader went through last.
Whatever the condition was last month is not revelent to what it will be next week.
Cheers,
Peter

I went all the way to the tip and to Weipa on the way back towing 3400kgs in 2020. I went just before the school holidays in May for memory as I have heard its best to avoid that school holiday period. There were times when I could do 80ks p/hr and other times when I could only do 10-20. Those times were only for shorts periods, perhaps a couple of kms each time. Some of the corrugations were rather large but if you drive to the conditions you would be fine. The only thing I broke was a cupboard latch, although that red dusk still appears out of crevices in the van. Well worth the experience.
