NCE TV channel tuning problem

Hi all

I think this is an old chestnut. I have a 12v NCE  TV which was included when we bought the van . When we change locations and try to retune it a signal comes up saying Data base empty

I have emailed and rung the number for NCE but no response from them.

we do not have a satellite dish. Do I need to update firmware ? I think the aerial is sound.

any thoughts ?

regards

Cisco

Is the aerial pointing in the right direction? Is it a vertical or horizontal signal area? Is the TV set to scan and set digital stations? You will not pick up anything if it scans analogue. I take it has worked somewhere before? Where are you now?

Phil,

You have to scan the channels every time you move to a new region/shire if you like.

South West channels won't work in the Wheatbelt for example, also some places like Denmark and others, you won't be able to scan any channels as they all work off Vast/Satellite signals.

Just put up aerial, booster button on and Auto scan for Digital channels, some places all you get is ABC and SBS. One of the joys of moving around.

Cheers Bob

 Hi smile

AS said every time you move to a new area you do need to scan again to get the new channels. The channels are different so they do not interfere with the adjacent ones being broadcast. You should also look at the aerials around you on the houses to see where to point your aerial so the reception will be good enough to scan them into the memory. Then when you have a channel on the screen you might need to adjust the direction to improve reception if needed using the TV signal strength meter.

Good luck Jaahn

Thanks
The main issue is that the TV will scan the channels then a box comes up saying database empty
I think it is time to send this TV into retirement
Bah humbug!

Then I tried it this morning after giving the aerial input jack a twist and a shove and hey presto it tuned the channels
So the problem is the aerial connection even though the green light indicating a good connection was lit
Thanks everyone for suggestions
