Bought one when they first came out.

They are brilliant and I have not been to a barber in ten years.

$89.00 when I bought mine about ten years ago. I am surprised how many haircuts I get before it has to go on charge as well although mine takes a while to charge. Probably 3 or 4 hours.

The best things is you dont have to ask anyone to cut your hair as it is self operate and you can sit outside and use it and not worry about getting yelled at for dropping hair all over the place.

I think a friend bought mine at staff price from the Good Guys for $70 about six years past. Looking at the JB pic it's been updated but if mine died I'd be down to JB ASAP to spend $120 on a new one.

As I'm usually deep in the bush I just wander outside and prop a mirror on the car door and do the hair and beard there, showering afterwards helps too.

Agree with everything you say Mike.

I got my original one from Hardly Normal but I would not baulk at buying another one at current retail should I need to.

It was a gift. I don't think I would have paid so much for one if it were my choice. It's a good unit, though.

I don't have a beard, so that's not a consideration for me (do women like beards, or do they just put with them?).

In my experience Dorian it depends upon the location of their specific sensory experience of the beard.

I never did understand the fascination with facial hair (handlebar moustaches?), but it's evident that Wahl Clipper Corp does.

I've been doing my hair and beard for about 10 yrs after my long-time barber retired. I use professional hairdressing scissors (well worth the money) and a Remington lady shaver I liberated from the family bathroom. It's narrower than most beard trimmers but works. When it finally dies I'll start shopping. My beard protects me from the sun and sunburn and will probably never be fully shaved again. The extra heat doesn't really worry me and I rarely notice it. But interestingly, 8 yrs ago I shaved my head in solidarity with a family member with cancer. I couldn't believe how hot and sweaty it was without head-hair (and I've been bald since my twenties).

The missus does mine with the Wahl clippers, usually a number 4 all over probably 4-5 times a year.

I've noticed the monk spot is getting bigger and bigger, starting to 'part' it in a circle lately.

Can't complain otherwise she'll shave the lot off.

I have a circular cutter with height adjustment from #2 to 6 . Shave neck and carefully cut with sizers around ears . Never paid for hair cut in 20 or so years !!

In March 2020 I had my usual short & spikey crewcut.
I haven't been to a hairdresser for the two years that this pandemic has existed.
I now wear my hair pulled back into a ponytail that's almost halfway down my back.
When I get it cut off, I'll be donating it to the Kids With Cancer wigs for kids program.
They can dye hair to the required colour. smile

With any of these mens hair cutting kits these days they should come with a nose ears and eyebrows trimmer.

I have one the same as Mike H has, but I have bought a couple of nose hair trimmers while the hair shears just kept on going.

Those nose trimmers dont seem to last that long, at least for me.

Well when I went overseas 20+ years ago to work in a remote place I cut my own hair and beard with a small electric clipper. I have done so since, my wife will trim my hair occasionally to improve my efforts aww The plug in ones are available cheaply and commonly and do not last forever. They get blunt and 'pull' the hair so you move on.

I was given a Sassoon model a while back, which is the best and longest lasting I have had, and probably most expensive. As I have an inverter the 220V AC is no problem. I might have problems paying the price shown for that cordless model ?? I gave up shaving every day when I stopped work. Not sure now why I waited so long disbelief

I haven't been to a hairdresser since 2010 and knowone even noticed and 5 years ago I bought my hubby clippers (no facial hair) and he started trimming his own.
It all started when I was saving up for a trip of a lifetime to go to Africa, and being a female it's very expensive going down the colouring, cutting and conditioning route over a $100 even back then.
A friend showed me a clever trick (bit hard to explain) and now I can cut my hair any length just using hairdresser scissors and a comb on wet hair.
I've had the odd mishap, but then I've paid for hairdressers who 'scalped me' or gave me 'dos' I couldn't recreate after I'd got home and now grey is all the rage it's a win win.
I reckon we have saved $1000s by now.
