hi, ive got an engel 60ltr fridge (new), ive cut the cigarette plug off to put an anderson plug in its place. ive purchased another lead that has the anderson pug and an inline fuse but this lead is a slightly thicker wire than the original that im joining it to.. could this be a problem. i hope you can understand what im trying to say, im not at all experianced in electrical at all. THANKS PETER
I made the cable a bit shorter & squeezed in a 7.5amp panel circuit breaker. Also replaced the 1100mm + & -- total length of 16awg cable with 12awg within the fridge. So heavier gauge wire everywhere to minimise resistance. The 2m lead which came with the fridge was only 16awg. So that was chucked out.
I folded over the 12awg wire about 4 times so there was enough to solder into the lug. Then heat shrinked.
If you want to solder lugs & don't have a large enough soldering iron, drill a hole in a block of wood, stand up lug & heat with heatgun. Fill with solder.

Hi all; Some of you may know of this trick, but the standard Engle 12 volt cigarette plug can be pulled apart to leave a 2 pin plug that is keyed as well and will only be able to be plugged into the Engle socket and then the plug has a screw ring that will connect to the 2 pin socket. This has the advantage of once installed will not vibrate out or be removed until the plug is unscrewed.
A far better way of connection to your 12 volt source and know way of making a poor connection and find out later that your fridge has gone off and no cold beer. I got my Engle sockets from Ebay. Cost peanuts.
