Hampton to Esk and Mt Meee/ Samson Rd suitability

Hello everyone, Please bear with me , I am a new member with a first time question. We are hopefully travelling to QLD in 2022 from WA all depending on covid, borders etc. We will be staying at Crows Nest for a couple of days then was planning to travel to the Gap in Brisbane to our Sons place for the birth of our first grandchild. Instead of going the motorways , I was hoping to , depending on replies here as to the suitability of the road and terrain conditions for a 21 ft van, travel from Hampton to Esk then up and around to daguiliar, down the Mt mee Rd to the Samson Valley Rd and into the baden powell scout campground where we will be camped for awhile. So long story short, can I get the van down that way easily instead of going the motorways ? Thank you so much Dave and Paula

Hampton to Esk road is fine, travelled it several times in both directions with 20' van.

Not too hilly or windy.

Like Bill B, we seem to find we use when returning from the west to avoid motorways on way home to North Brisbane.

Hampton to Esk there is a decline, drop down a gear and wander down, pull into Ravensbourne NP for a look at the view, there is a turning circle.

After Esk at Toogoolawah, this small village has a lot to offer. Great snowground, bakery, foodstore, hotel meals with friendly people.

Woodford to Samford Valley very do able with a windy country road, drive to the conditions and enjoy.

Thanks Radar,

When we get over there we will be staying for probably 12 months and in between babysitting duties we will be taking off around Queensland.  Don't enjoy freeways or motorways when towing the van too much so always after an alternative.

Cheers and regards

Dave and Paula

Welcome to GN's Dave & Paula, Can't help with road conditions haven't been in that area for a few years (2013). At the time I was towing a 16ft Jayco Discovery - had to use lower gears on hills but no problems.
