I am currently reviewing my vehicle and van insurances and considering insuring them all with the RACV. I have until now had my insurances arranged through a broker.
I am keen to hear of the experiences of others when making an insurance claim with the RACV. Worried that the lower premiums RACV are offering may be matched by a lower standard of support when it is claim time.
I have had two claims on my van - one 5 sides hit with hail, one with incompetent driver (me) driving through bay door at angle catching both sides of van on steel door frame. Both claims handled by phone. Only problem encountered was lead time to get work repaired
as hail damage obliterated crash damage - I was charged an excess on both claims at $200 each claim. IAG wouldn't allow one claim for both.

This year I have both car and van with RACV - I tend to alternate between RACV and AAMI depending upon cost - fortunately I have never made a claim for either car or van so cannot offer an opinion but my dealings with RACV in other areas, including roadside recovery, have been outstanding and give me confidence their insurance response will be too, hopefully :)
