Protecting rear window

Hi Just wondering what people have done to protect the rear Ute screen from stones when towing van. Not wanting to fit a stone stomper looking for something to put on the window itself either permanent while travelling or something that can be removed easily. Thanks Scoota

I used a cheap Yoga mat cut to size but a Stone Stomper as well . A Y62 Patrol rear screen looks bloody expensive and probably have to be ex Japan
We did the Oodnadatta Tk just before Covid and saw 6 vehicles with broken back windows , one bloke had just done his second , talk about a slow learner .

You need to protect the whole back of your car because stones will dent/ping  and crack paint work (and  they will do a good job of it...!) as well as break windows. Best to  get rid of the spare wheel ( if there is one )  on the front of the van and put something "absorbent " across the front of the van to absorb stone impact and not reflect/ricochet  them back onto the car.   KB

Thanks. Ive got some corefluts double thickness and using weatherproof Velcro tape to adhere to the rear window. Not to worried about chipped paint etc. thanks everyone for tips and photos. I do like the purpose made one but do not have time to wait for one to arrive. Cheers Scoota. I post later and let everyone know how the coreflute works out.

Cliffs, run a strip of masking tape around edges of corflute panels to stop them filling with dirt/water.

And make sure you buy top quality marine masking tape which can tolerate getting wet without gluing itself to the paintwork/window. Removing wet standard masking tape is an experience you will never forget cheers
