wondering if anyone can point us in the right direction we have purchased an off road 18 single axle caravan. Contracted for Dexter (which have now combined with Alko) anti sway but Lippert sway command has been put in place instead. Would anyone be able to advise if there is any difference and which is better?
Dexter units are far superior to old ALKO ESC. No false braking whilst cornering - no need to disconnect when reversing or on gravel roads. I am unfamiliar with Lippert Sway Command - Perhaps if you drop an e-mail to Colin Young - Chief Engineer at Caravan Council he may be able to advise you with correct information, which undoubtably will vary with Salesman's pitch. Thank you possum3 - that is really great advice and we will be following it accordingly. Very appreciative! Hi Dogbox - it is a brand new off road sun seeker desert storm. Sun seeker is in Queensland - I think the way it goes the build is subcontracted to titanium here in Melbourne. We paid for dexter but lippert have been put on the van (just delivered) so we are following up with sun seeker - there isnt much info on the net and we wanted to have our facts right before we speak with sun seeker.
Thanks again - so helpful! We are such novices!
Looks like the Lippert could be better than either than the Al-Ko or Dexter units. The quote below comes from RV News magazine.
Utilizing both an accelerometer, which measures lateral force, and a gyroscope sensor, which measures angular velocity, Sway Command quickly and accurately differentiates between side-to-side and up-and-down movement to prevent false activation. For this reason, it does not need to be de-activated in off-road conditions. Most market competitors use only accelerometer technology.
I would be happy to have that unit on my van.

I thought I was getting Dexter, then the other day I was under the van and saw that I had Lippert, which I had never heard of. Did some research and made a couple of calls, and several people have told me that they think Lippert is the better brand.
Just letting you know what I was told, as I am no expert in this area.
