Is my Bed Killing Me

Hi all I need to know from my learned travellers is your Bed Killing you or making you very tired. My wife has a chronic back problem and we are on the road presently in Mackay, I have just recently started to get Back twinges and Nerve and Joint problems waking me up and I cannot return to slumber so I have worked out our mattress May be the problem. In stating this where can I buy a very good mattress for my queen sized bed and what do you feel is the best. Toppers are on bed but still cannot give relief. Lumber region and sacral area, hips and joints and I know old age is truly a symptom  But What do you think?

I have a king koil conform duo plush mattress at home (bought at Harvey Norman) that I use with a padded (not foam) mattress topper and my hip pain has totally gone away. I feel that it's squishy enough to protect the bony bits but firm enough to give back support.
I don't know if it would work in a van.
When I travel I have to use an air bed obviously I then have lots of aches and pains but it stores under my lovely Queen mattress when I get home lol

I find that a harder matress causes grief to my back, so I bought a latex topper from Clarke Rubber. I had to cut a little off to match the slightly smaller caravan matress, and also the rounded corners. It certainly helps lot with comfort.

Before buying one, check to make sure the frame does not allow a bit of sag, or a crossbeam causes a lump. It doesn't take much to aggravate a bad back.

We sleep on Lambswool toppers on innerspring mattresses - no back problems.

Are you certain the bed is the cause of back problems? Is the caravan bed the correct size, or is it too small (most are)?

Is you vehicle/tug seat set correctly? Are you now wearing scuffs/thongs, whereas you previously wore heeled shoes? Is the step on your caravan too high, causing a jolt to your spine? Are you lounging in camp chairs, or sitting erect? Are you doing enough exercise, or becoming more sedentary? Are you gaining weight?   Are you lifting water gas bottles, water bottles, generator, in short - heavy items around camp?

Always had back issues with mattresses at home. No matter whether cheap or expensive they always ended up causing a sore back after only a short period of ownership. These were all innerspring. Decided to try a mattress in a box after my son raved about his. Bloody hell it's brilliant. No more sore back in the mornings. The one we got is 100% foam - 3 layers of different densities.

Innerspring mattresses went the way of neckties. Memory foam mattresses are what all the Kool Kids sleep on these days. We replaced our uncomfortable caravan mattress with one of those Mattress in a Box type. There are several on the market. Great for a caravan because you open the box inside and out pops a mattress. Very comfortable and now I get a better sleep in the caravan than I do at home.

Flick through these reports, these bed in a box mattresses do get a lot of high praise in all reviews....

Another advantage of the bed in a box, at least for those that are only foam, is that you can just cut the bugger down to whatever size you need.
