Drive on a cobbled road for a few km and you will be looking for that "modern road" pretty quick :)

Yes, you can have your cobblestone roads. They are about as inviting as the Gibb River Road.

Maintenance is the issue.

 

Old cobblestone roads ended up with huge ruts in then from the wheels always using the same position.

 

If you have driven on cobblestones in Europe you need earmuffs.
